Repeating Nuclear Transients From Repeating Partial Tidal Disruption Events

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Extragalactic nuclear transients that exhibit repeating outbursts can be modeled as the repeated dynamical interaction between bound stars and supermassive black holes (SMBHs). A subset of these transients, with recurrence timescales of months‐to‐years, have been explained as accretion flares from the repeated tidal stripping of a star by an ...

Motion and gravitational radiation of a binary system consisting of an oscillating and rotating coplanar dusty disk and a point-like object

open access: yes, 2005
A binary system composed of an oscillating and rotating coplanar dusty disk and a point mass is considered. The conservative dynamics is treated on the Newtonian level.

Quantifying the Impact of Relativistic Precession on Tidal Disruption Event Light Curves

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The tidal field of a black hole can turn a star into a gas stream whose orbit can precess, especially if the a black hole is rapidly spinning. In this work, we investigate the impact of precession on the light curves of tidal disruption events (TDE).

Recent developments in planet migration theory

open access: yes, 2012
Planetary migration is the process by which a forming planet undergoes a drift of its semi-major axis caused by the tidal interaction with its parent protoplanetary disc.

Hidden No More: Spotlight on Tidal Disruption Events in Active Galactic Nuclei

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Tidal disruption events (TDEs) are typically discovered in previously quiescent galaxies. However, earlier studies have revealed a handful of TDEs occurring in pre‐existing active galactic nuclei (AGN). We discuss AT2019aalc, a promising TDE candidate in an AGN, and compare it to similar sources.

Modulation of Tidal Channel Signatures on SAR Images Over Gyeonggi Bay in Relation to Environmental Factors

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
In this study, variations of radar backscatter features of the tidal channel in Gyeonggi Bay in the Eastern Yellow Sea were investigated using spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images.

Listening to young children with disabilities: Experiences of quality in mainstream primary education

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract All children should have access to quality education through a child‐centred pedagogy. An inclusive, child‐centred pedagogy uses a strength‐based view of children that recognises each child as unique and competent, providing children with multiple opportunities to explore and learn at their own pace.

Design of a Novel Experimental Facility for Testing of Tidal Arrays

open access: yesEnergies, 2013
In order to obtain the maximum amount of energy from tidal stream extraction devices, deployment in large arrays should be studied. The area of seabed with favorable conditions is fairly limited; therefore layout spacing has to be optimized.

Tidal interactions—Crude body model in dynamical investigations [PDF]

open access: yesPlanetary and Space Science, 2012
The paper presents results of investigations of small bodies dynamics in a vicinity of giant planets. We used the most simple body model: gravitationally bounded, rotating contact binary affected by the tidal force acting from a planet. Spin variations of such binaries were extensively studied during planetary close encounters.
