One‐Step Solvothermal Synthesis of VS4@PC/rGO for High‐Performance Symmetric Supercapacitors

open access: yesMetalMat, EarlyView.
VS4@PC/rGO ternary composites featuring a 3D skewer‐like structure have been synthesized via a facile one‐step in situ solvothermal approach. The assembled SSC device has a 1.4 V voltage window, achieves 46.1 Wh·kg−1 energy density at 374.8 W·kg−1, and demonstrates excellent long‐cycle stability.

Gas/Star Offsets in Tidal Tails

open access: yes, 2000
We use numerical simulations to study the development of gas/star offsets in the tidal tails of merging galaxies. These offsets are shown to be a natural consequence of the radially extended HI spatial distribution in disk galaxies, coupled with internal dissipation in the gaseous component driven by the interaction.

Analysis of serum biomarkers associated with pain in Spanish greyhounds undergoing ovariohysterectomy

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Background This study measured serum biomarkers at baseline and during an ovariohysterectomy in healthy female Spanish greyhounds, aiming to enhance the objectivity of current methods for assessing acute postoperative pain in dogs. Methods Blood samples from 20 Spanish greyhounds were collected before drug administration (T0‐baseline).

Trojan Globular Clusters: Radial Migration via Trapping in Bar Resonances

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
We search for globular clusters (GCs) trapped in resonances with the bar of the Milky Way (MW). By integrating their orbits in a potential with a decelerating bar, we select 10 whose orbits are significantly changed by its presence.

News from the "Dentist's Chair": Observations of AM 1353-272 with the VIMOS IFU

open access: yes, 2006
The galaxy pair AM 1353-272 nicknamed "The Dentist's Chair" shows two ~30 kpc long tidal tails. Previous observations using multi-slit masks showed that they host up to seven tidal dwarf galaxies.

Capture of isoflurane from anaesthetised dogs and cats following methadone, medetomidine and ketamine administration

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Volatile anaesthetic agents contribute to climate change, and reducing this impact is a commendable ambition. We evaluated the efficiency of a veterinary capture device for isoflurane (VET‐can/VET‐dock, SageTech Veterinary) in anaesthetised cats and dogs.

Comparing isoflurane and desflurane: A prospective randomised blinded clinical trial in horses undergoing elective surgery

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The recovery period is associated with the greatest risk of injury for horses undergoing anaesthesia. Recovery quality and duration can be influenced by the volatile agent. Methods This prospective, randomised blinded clinical investigation recruited 101 healthy client‐owned horses undergoing elective surgery at one UK equine ...
