Virgo Filaments. V. Disrupting the Baryon Cycle in the NGC 5364 Galaxy Group

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The Virgo Filament Survey (VFS) is a comprehensive study of galaxies that reside in the extended filamentary structures surrounding the Virgo Cluster, out to 12 virial radii.

A limpet's eye view of post‐glacial isostasy: fixed biological indicators provide new sea‐level index points for the Mid‐Holocene relative highstand in eastern Northern Ireland

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Bioerosional scars made by limpets (Patella) on a cliff in Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland, indicate a Mid‐Holocene RSL of +7.8±0.55 m relative to local mid‐tide level today. This is higher than previous empirical data for the region and extrapolated levels from raised shorelines in Scotland but consistent with some recent GIA models.

Cytochrome P450 1A1 influences obesity‐induced pulmonary hypertension

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose The contribution of obesity to pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) pathophysiology remains poorly understood. Adipose tissue synthesises estrogens via cytochrome P450 (CYP) 19A1 (aromatase), whereas circulating estrogens are metabolised in the lung by CYP1A1.

Pharmacological inhibition of hydroxysteroid 11‐beta dehydrogenase type 1 (11‐βHSD1) after myocardial infarction preserves cardiac function in a translational mini‐pig model

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Plasma glucocorticoids increase acutely after MI, thereafter tissue levels are amplified selectively within cells expressing 11‐ßhydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11‐ßHSD1) that regenerates active glucocorticoids from circulating metabolites.

Kinematics of Stellar Streams from Globular Clusters Depend on Black Hole Retention and Star Mass: A Selection Effect for Dark Matter Inference

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Velocity dispersion ( σ ) in stellar streams from globular clusters (GCs) is sensitive to heating by Galactic substructure, including dark matter (DM) subhalos.

Decoding Senescence‐Driven Heterogeneity in Early‐Onset Colorectal Cancer for Prognostic and Therapeutic Stratification

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
We uncovered pronounced and heterogeneous tumor senescence in EOCRC, independent of age. By integrating multi‐omics and single‐cell analyses, we developed EO‐Senscore, a prognostic tool that stratifies patients by immune phenotype and therapy response, enabling precision treatment using immunotherapy or senolytic agents. ABSTRACT Early‐onset colorectal

BIOMASS ESTIMATION AND DISTRIBUTION OF SARGASSUM GLAUCESCENS IN THE OMAN SEA (IRANIAN COASTLINE)

open access: yes‬‭Majallah-i ̒Ilmī-i Shīlāt-i Īrān, 2003
The brown algae of Sargassum glaucescens is found all along the coastal waters of Sistan and Balouchestan province in the Oman Sea. This species as a raw material can be used in different industries and is considered as an economical marine resources ...

Lessons from an eradication under multiple constraints of an island rat population of record density

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Invasive rats threaten island biodiversity, disrupting ecosystems and endangering native species. Although rat eradication has succeeded on many islands, tropical islands present unique management challenges. Strict regulations and financial constraints on some tropical islands further limit proven eradication methods, complicating rodent ...

RIOJA. Complex Dusty Starbursts in a Major Merger B14-65666 at z = 7.15

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present JWST NIRCam imaging of B14-65666 (“Big Three Dragons”), a bright Lyman-break galaxy system ( M _UV  = −22.5 mag) at z = 7.15. The high angular resolution of NIRCam reveals the complex morphology of two galaxy components: galaxy E has a compact

The luminosity function of Palomar 5 and its tidal tails

open access: yes, 2003
We present the main sequence luminosity function of the tidally disrupted globular cluster Palomar 5 and its tidal tails. For this work we analyzed imaging data obtained with the Wide Field Camera at the INT (La Palma) and data from the Wide Field Imager
