Tidal Triggering of the Harmonic Noise in Ocean-Bottom Seismometers

Seismological Research Letters, 2020
AbstractWe observed a harmonic noise (HN) in DEutscher Geräte-Pool für Amphibische Seismologie ocean-bottom seismometers (OBSs) data recorded from the Andaman–Nicobar region. The HN is characterized by sharp spectral peaks with a fundamental frequency and several overtones occurring at integer multiples of the fundamental frequency.

Patient-triggered ventilation: A comparison of tidal volume and chestwall and abdominal motion as trigger signals

Pediatric Pulmonology, 1996
Patient-triggered synchronized ventilation requires reliable and early detection of the infant's inspiratory effort. Several trigger methods have been developed that frequently lack the sensitivity to detect inspiration in small preterm infants (trigger failure), or show a high rate of breaths triggered by artifacts in the respiratory signal ...

Gravitational and geomagnetic tidal source of earthquake triggering

Il Nuovo Cimento C, 1989
Earth's tides and external geomagnetic fields are shown to be significantly related to large earthquake. A possible triggering mechanism is proposed to explain the large solar and lunar variations observed in the number of the examined shocks.

Tidal Forcing as a Trigger of Arctic Ice Stream Deglaciation

2020
<p>It has been established recently (Velay-Vitow, Peltier and Stuhne JGR-Oceans 2019) that a high amplitude M2 tide may have triggered and contributed to the forcing of the rapid deglaciations of the Hudson Strait ice stream, commonly referred to as Heinrich events, during the last glacial period.

Tidal triggering of earthquakes and volcanic events

2005
Since the end of the last century many investigations have been carried out concerning the question if stresses due to the tidal forcing of the earth do trigger earthquakes or volcanic activities. Since the publications are so numerous and the results so controversial a complete review is impossible. An attempt is made to describe the different methods

Tidal triggering of starbursts and nuclear activity in galaxies

Nature, 1989
Gas distributed throughout a galaxy responds strongly to the tidal field of a companion during a merger. In some cases dynamical instability will drive a large fraction of the gas into the inner regions of the galaxy. A strong burst of star formation will follow and subsequent evolution may lead to the formation of a black hole.
