Top-down and bottom-up factors in tidepool communities [PDF]
Recent studies suggest that nutrient variation influences rocky intertidal community structure, however empirical evidence is rare. In the Gulf of Maine, tidepools that occur on seagull feeding roosts are potentially subjected to regular nutrient loading

Impact of cigarette butt leachate on tidepool snails
Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2015In urban areas, cigarette butts are the most common discarded refuse articles. In marine intertidal zones, they often fall into tidepools. We tested how common intertidal molluscs were affected by butt leachate in a laboratory experiment, where snails were exposed to various leachate concentrations. Mortality was very high, with all species showing 100%

A molecular assessment of homing in the tidepool sculpin
Journal of Fish Biology, 2003Molecular analyses of the mitochondrial genome using restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) were utilized to determine the existence of discrete populations of the tidepool sculpin Oligocottus maculosus from the Barkley Sound region of south‐western Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
