Modeling fluctuating pressure in the eccentric annulus with a four-parameter rheological method

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2022
The existing calculation models of fluctuating pressure are mainly based on Bingham fluid, power-law fluid and Heba fluid. These rheological models have certain limitations in the scope of application, and it is difficult to accurately describe the ...

Nanopore Confinement Effect on the Phase Behavior of CO2/Hydrocarbons in Tight Oil Reservoirs considering Capillary Pressure, Fluid-Wall Interaction, and Molecule Adsorption

open access: yesGeofluids, 2021
The pore sizes in tight reservoirs are nanopores, where the phase behavior deviates significantly from that of bulk fluids in conventional reservoirs.

Occurrence characteristics and relation to oil and gas distribution of bedding fractures in tight sandstone

open access: yes, 2022
The existence of bedding fractures has a very important influence on the formation and distribution of tight sandstone oil and gas reservoirs. In this paper, the occurrence characteristics of bedding fractures and their influence on oil and gas ...

Classification of microscopic pore-throats and the grading evaluation on shale oil reservoirs

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2018
: On the basis of the characterization of microscopic pore-throats in shale oil reservoirs by high-pressure mercury intrusion technique, a grading evaluation standard of shale oil reservoirs and a lower limit for reservoir formation were established ...

A novel approach of tight oil reservoirs stimulation based on fracture controlling optimization and design

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2020
: To deal with the stress interference caused by simultaneous propagation of multiple fractures and the wettability reversal and physical property changes of the reservoir caused by fracturing fluid getting in during large-volume fracturing of tight oil ...

Microscale Mineral and Pore Structure Characterization of the Low-Permeability Sandstone in the Ordos Basin, China

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2021
Given the insufficient understanding of the characteristics and controlling factors of the low-permeability sandstone reservoir in the Heshui area, the Ordos Basin, the present study examined the microscale mineral and pore structure of Chang 2 reservoir.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Quantitative assessment of the sweet spot in marine shale oil and gas based on geology, engineering, and economics: A case study from the Eagle Ford Shale, USA

open access: yesEnergy Strategy Reviews, 2021
Shale oil and gas have become important areas of petroleum exploration and development. Successful shale oil and gas exploration depends on the accurate evaluation of sweet spots, which are the commercial targets.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
