Tight sandstone reservoir sensitivity and damage mechanism analysis: A case study from Ordos Basin, China and implications for reservoir damage prevention

open access: yesEnergy Geoscience, 2022
Analysis of reservoir sensitivity to velocity, water, salt, acid, alkali and stress is critical for reservoir protection. To study the tight sandstone reservoir sensitivity at different formation depths (effective stress) and formation water conditions ...

Study on seepage characteristics of tight sandstone reservoir

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Abstract Seepage characteristics of reservoir rocks are important factors affecting the effect of tight oil and gas production. Therefore the pore structure of tight sandstone from Dong 6 well in 4 block of the central Dzungaria Basin were studied by mercury injection experiment, and the seepage characteristics of tight sandstone were ...

Forced imbibition in tight sandstone cores

open access: yesShiyou shiyan dizhi, 2021
Spontaneous imbibition (SI) generally occurs under forced pressure (pressure difference between hydraulic fluid pressure and original pore pressure) during a shut-in period. However, the experimental study of SI is commonly performed at atmospheric pressure and the effect of forced pressure is often neglected.

Characteristics and resource prospects of tight oil in Ordos Basin, China

open access: yesPetroleum Research, 2016
: Efficient large-scale development of ultra-low-permeability reservoirs (0.3–1 mD) has been achieved in the Changqing Oilfield, Ordos Basin of China. According to unique features of petroleum exploration and development in this basin, tight oil herein ...

Experimental Study on the Anisotropic Characteristics and Engineering Application of Tight Sandstone

open access: yes, 2021
The anisotropy of tight sandstone (a type of unconventional gas reservoirs) is a significant factor influencing the characteristics of cracks network under hydrofracturing; thus, it also has a large influence on the final production capacity of the gas ...

Application of the combination of high-pressure mercury injection and nuclear magnetic resonance to the classification and evaluation of tight sandstone reservoirs: A case study of the Linxing Block in the Ordos Basin

open access: yesNatural Gas Industry B, 2020
Tight sandstone gas reservoirs have poorer porosity–permeability relationships, so conventional reservoir classification schemes can hardly satisfy the classification and evaluation demand of this type of reservoirs.

Stress effects on the relative permeabilities of tight sandstones

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Géoscience, 2018
This note deals with the study of stress-sensitive relative permeability experimentally observed in low permeable sandstones. These sandstones are made up of quartz grains surrounded by permeable interfaces between grains and pores. A micromechanical model of relative permeability behaviour under loading highlights the role of the closure of interfaces.
