Quantitative Reservoir Characterization of Tight Sandstone Using Extended Elastic Impedance

Natural Resources Research, 2020
Quantitative inversion of reservoir properties plays a crucial role in the efficient development of tight sandstone reservoirs. Based on the theories of statistical rock physics and extended elastic impedance (EEI), a complete workflow for quantitative prediction of reservoir properties is developed and the key steps thereof are provided here.

Drainage Efficiency in Naturally Fractured Tight Gas Sandstone Reservoirs

SPE Gas Technology Symposium, 1998
Abstract Modeling of the Mesaverde Formation in the San Juan Basin, northwestern New Mexico, shows the importance of using realistic drainage patterns in a naturally fractured reservoir. Fractures not only enhance the overall porosity and permeability of these reservoirs, but fractures also create significant ...

Rock-Fluid Interactions in a Tight Sandstone Reservoir

Volume 8: Offshore Geotechnics; Petroleum Technology
Abstract In this work, we present a comprehensive and practical framework to quantify the dynamic characteristics of pore-throat structure together with wettability alterations during a waterflooding process in a tight sandstone reservoir in addition to evaluating the impact of ionic composition and salinity on its performance.

Fracture Assisted Sandstone Acidizing, Alternative Approach To Increase Production in Tight Sandstone Reservoir

SPE Oil and Gas India Conference and Exhibition, 2012
Abstract The proven and most suitable stimulation technology to increase production in a tight sandstone formation is hydraulic fracturing. The hydraulic fracturing treatment will create a fracture and then keep it open by proppant, hence a conductive path allowing more oil and gas to be produced.

Characterization and Simulation of Naturally Fractured Tight Gas Sandstone Reservoirs

SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1995
Abstract Significant gas reserves are present in low-permeability sandstones of the Frontier Formation in the Green River Basin, Wyoming. Successful exploitation of these reservoirs requires an understanding of the characteristics and fluid-flow response of the regional natural fracture system that controls reservoir productivity ...
