Energy and position resolution of a CdZnTe gamma-ray detector with orthogonal coplanar anodes [PDF]
We report on the simulation, construction and performance of prototype CZT imaging detectors employing orthogonal coplanar anodes. These detectors employ a novel electrode geometry with non-collecting anode strips in 1D and collecting anode pixels ...

Maize is a staple crop of the grass family and also an excellent model for plant genetics. Owing to the large size and repetitiveness of its genome, we previously investigated two approaches to accelerate gene discovery and genome analysis in maize: methylation filtration and high C(0)t selection.

Spectral observations of X Persei: Connection between H-alpha and X-ray emission
We present spectroscopic observations of the Be/X-ray binary X Per obtained during the period 1999 - 2018. Using new and published data, we found that during "disc-rise" the expansion velocity of the circumstellar disc is 0.4 - 0.7 km/s.

Time series of high resolution spectra of SN 2014J observed with the TIGRE telescope [PDF]
We present a time series of high resolution spectra of the Type Ia supernova 2014J, which exploded in the nearby galaxy M82. The spectra were obtained with the HEROS echelle spectrograph installed at the 1.2 m TIGRE telescope.

The Ca II infrared triplet's performance as an activity indicator compared to Ca II H and K
Aims. A large number of Calcium Infrared Triplet (IRT) spectra are expected from the GAIA- and CARMENES missions. Conversion of these spectra into known activity indicators will allow analysis of their temporal evolution to a better degree. We set out to

Herbarium collections are powerful, yet underutilized, tools for global biodiversity conservation and protected area management. By integrating digitized herbarium records with existing biodiversity data, previously unknown plant species were uncovered, exposing critical gaps in conservation knowledge.

The long-period massive binary HD~54662 revisited [PDF]
HD54662 is an O-type binary star belonging to the CMa OB1 association. Due to its long-period orbit, this system is an interesting target to test the adiabatic wind shock model.

Human Rights Economic Dividends: Estimating the Economic Effects of Preventing Discrimination
ABSTRACT Economies embracing principles like nondiscrimination are presumed to reap significant rewards, while violations incur heavy costs. We call these benefits human rights economic dividends—the economic gains that arise when policymaking is guided by human rights principles.
