On a Stochastic Regularization Technique for Ill-Conditioned Linear Systems
Knowledge about the input–output relations of a system can be very important in many practical situations in engineering. Linear systems theory comes from applied mathematics as an efficient and simple modeling technique for input–output systems ...

GKB-GCV Method for Solving Generic Tikhonov Regularization Problems
AbstractThe W-GCV method is one of the iterative methods used to solve a large scale Vtandard form of the Tikhonov regularization, but it is also necessary for solving the general form of the Tikhonov regularization. This paper proposes a new solver, called GKB-GCV, which is an extension of the W-GCV by using the GSVD.

Ill-posed problems arise in many areas of science and engineering. Tikhonov is a usual regularization which replaces the original problem by a minimization problem with a fidelity term and a regularization term.

Tikhonov regularized exterior penalty methods for hierarchical variational inequalities
We consider nested variational inequalities con- sisting in a (upper-level) variational inequality whose feasible set is given by the solution set of another (lower-level) variational inequality. This class of hierarchical equilibrium contains a wealth of important applications, including purely hierarchical convex bilevel optimization problems and ...

Uncertainty in structure dynamics resulting from matrix ill-conditioning
In the paper there are discussed certain issues concerning ill-posed problems that frequently appear in inverse problems, modal analysis, acoustics and other methods making use of matrix algebra.

A nested primal–dual iterated Tikhonov method for regularized convex optimization
Abstract Proximal–gradient methods are widely employed tools in imaging that can be accelerated by adopting variable metrics and/or extrapolation steps. One crucial issue is the inexact computation of the proximal operator, often implemented through a nested primal–dual solver, which represents the main computational bottleneck whenever an ...
