Abstract The linear‐quadratic regulator (LQR) problem of optimal control of an uncertain discrete‐time linear system (DTLS) is revisited in this paper from the perspective of Tikhonov regularization. We show that an optimally chosen regularization parameter reduces, compared to the classical LQR, the values of a scalar error function, as well as the ...

Regularization based on all-at-once formulations for inverse problems
Parameter identification problems typically consist of a model equation, e.g. a (system of) ordinary or partial differential equation(s), and the observation equation.

A [3]Rotaxane Containing {Ti7Ga} Rings Linking CuII: Synthesis, Structure, and Spectroscopic Studies
Extended hybrid inorganic‐organic [2]‐ and [3]‐rotaxanes are reported based on heterometallic rings with threads that link CuII complexes; the crystal structures are reported, and the solution behavior is investigated by double electron electron resonance spectroscopy methods.

OCReP: An Optimally Conditioned Regularization for Pseudoinversion Based Neural Training
In this paper we consider the training of single hidden layer neural networks by pseudoinversion, which, in spite of its popularity, is sometimes affected by numerical instability issues.

3D Surface Profiling via Direct End‐to‐End Regression With a Photonic Geometric Sensor
Measurements of microscale surface patterns are essential for quality control across semiconductor and biomedical industries, yet the development of miniaturized, intelligent systems remains constrained by the complexity and bulkiness of conventional benchtop metrology.

Robust Inversion Methods for Aerosol Spectroscopy
The Fast Aerosol Spectrometer (FASP) is a device for spectral aerosol measurements. Its purpose is to safely monitor the atmosphere inside a reactor containment. First we describe the FASP and explain its basic physical laws.

Quantitative Assessment of Visible Nigrosome‐1 in Patients with Parkinson's Disease
Abstract Background The nigrosome‐1 (N1) sign on susceptibility‐weighted imaging (SWI) typically disappears in Parkinson's disease (PD), though some patients can show uni−/bilaterally preserved N1. Objective Investigating whether visible nigrosomes in PD patients differ from those of healthy subjects (HC). Methods Forty‐eight PD and 35 HC underwent 3 T‐

Optimal convergence rates for sparsity promoting wavelet-regularization in Besov spaces
This paper deals with Tikhonov regularization for linear and nonlinear ill-posed operator equations with wavelet Besov norm penalties. We focus on $B^0_{p,1}$ penalty terms which yield estimators that are sparse with respect to a wavelet frame.

Microencapsulated Alkane Wax Melting: Measured by 1$$ {}^1 $$H NMR Relaxometry and Diffusometry
NMR relaxometry and diffusometry measurements detected greater molecular‐level disordering in microencapsulated n‐alkane waxes versus unencapsulated waxes throughout melting. ABSTRACT Phase change materials (PCMs) are useful for energy storage. Large latent heats make n‐alkane waxes effective PCMs.
