IN PORTUGUESE… AND SPANISH, ENGLISH, DUTCH, FRENCH… SINGULARITIES OF PORTUGUESE AZULEJOS WITHIN EUROPEAN HISTORIOGRAPHY

open access: yesArt is on, 2018
The link between Portuguese tile decorations and the notion of identity(ies) is rooted today in a very wide context, leading to the extensive use of azulejos as cultural and narrative symbols with very different aims.

Toward Capacitive In‐Memory‐Computing: A Device to Systems Level Perspective on the Future of Artificial Intelligence Hardware

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Capacitive, charge‐domain compute‐in‐memory (CIM) stores weights as capacitance, eliminating DC sneak paths and IR‐drop, yielding near‐zero standbypower. In this perspective, we present a device to systems level performance analysis of most promising architectures and predict apathway for upscaling capacitive CIM for sustainable edge computing ...

Investigation of natural radioactivity and its associated radiological parameters in different tiles used in Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu, India

open access: yesRadiation Protection and Environment
Radiological parameters resulting from different tiles commonly used in homes and offices in Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, India were assessed in this study by carrying out radioactivity measurement of natural radionuclides (226Ra, 232Th, and 40K ...

Real‐Time Multicolor Fluorescence Microscopy via Cross‐Channel Acquisition and Deep‐Learning‐Based Inference

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Sequential multicolor fluorescence imaging in dynamic microsystems is constrained by acquisition speed and excitation dose. This study introduces a real‐time framework to reconstruct spectrally separated channels from reduced cross‐channel acquisitions (frames containing mixed spectral contributions).

Autonomous X‐Ray Fluorescence Mapping for Nanoscale Chemical Speciation of Fine Particulate Matter

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
We present X‐AutoMap, an autonomous X‐ray fluorescence mapping framework that integrates real‐time analysis with rule‐based computer vision to selectively target chemically relevant regions. By avoiding background‐dominated areas, the method reduces acquisition time by fourfold while enabling accurate particle‐level speciation.

Quasi-Projection: aperiodic concrete formwork for perceived surface complexity

open access: yes, 2008
By disclosing long range order from few dissimilar tiles, aperiodic tilings can potentially diversify and spatially enrich the repetitive aspects of modular systems still pertinent in the production of architecture today. Such effective tilings have been
