Temporal variation of mycorrhization rates in a tree diversity experiment. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol, 2023
The sampling date had a significant influence on mycorrhization rates, of both EM and AM tree species. Frequencies of EM and AM were lowest in May, but there were no differences between December and March. The causes of this temporal variation must be associated with climate‐induced differences in carbon allocation to mycorrhizal tree roots in the ...

Hydro-Functional Traits and Their Dissimilarity to the Neighbourhood Buffer Tree Growth Against the 2018-2020 Central European Drought. [PDF]

open access: yesGlob Chang Biol
Climate change is putting forests at risk. Our research shows that a tree's water‐use strategy largely determines its growth across years: whereas one strategy performs better in normal years, the other is advantageous during drought. Trees grow best during drought when surrounded by neighbors whose water‐use strategies differ from their own ...

The Effect of 3000 K LED Lamps on the Photosynthesis and Morphology of Deciduous Tree Species. [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Environ Interact
ABSTRACT The effect of artificial light at night (ALAN) on plants is a less explored area within light pollution research. This is especially true for the physiological parameters of photosynthesis of woody plants. The physiological and morphological values of nineteen deciduous urban tree species illuminated by street lamps with a color temperature of

Mixing tree species associated with arbuscular or ectotrophic mycorrhizae reveals dual mycorrhization and interactive effects on the fungal partners. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol, 2021
In a tree diversity experiment where different mycorrhizal host species were planted in monospecific stands and in mixtures, we found that combining arbuscular or ectotrophic mycorrhizae affect mycorrhization rates and richness of AM and EM fungi. Glomeromycota richness was larger in monotypic AM tree combinations than in mixtures of AM‐EM host trees ...

Fenologija cvjetanja tri vrste lipe (Tilia sp.) na području grada Banja Luke

open access: yesGlasnik Šumarskog Fakulteta Univerziteta u Banjoj Luci, 2014
Cilj rada je analiza perioda cvjetanja vrsta roda lipa (Tilia sp.) u toku jedne vegetacione sezone, na području grada Banja Luke. Vrste obuhvaćene ovim istraživanjem su: krupnolisna, sitnolisna i srebrnolisna lipa. Terensko istraživanje je sprovedeno na

Sugar Maple Litter Decay Rates Are Reduced More Strongly by Drought Than by American Beech Proliferation in the Understory. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
Tree litter decay rates were estimated for 36 species (3) × rainfall exclusion (2) × American beech proliferation (2) × bag mesh size (3) treatment combinations. Rainfall exclusion dominated effects on instantaneous litter mass loss rates. Beech proliferation in the understory and bag mesh‐size differences exerted much more subtle effects.

Vegetative behaviors of the linden (Tilia spp.) seedlings [PDF]

open access: yesAgroznanje, 2017
The main goal of this study was to investigate the morphological development of the seedlings of Tilia spp. The experiments were carried out with seeds from three Tilia species.

Ready Biodegradability study and insights with ultra‐high‐performance liquid chromatograph coupled to a quadrupole time of flight of a Metformin‐based drug and of Metarecod, a natural substance‐based medical device

open access: yesJournal of Mass Spectrometry, Volume 58, Issue 10, October 2023., 2023
Abstract Drugs are indispensable products with incontrovertible benefits to human health and lifestyle. However, due to their overuse and improper disposal, unwanted residues of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) have been found in different compartments of the environment and now are considered as contaminants of emerging concern (CECs ...

Cultural importance, availability and conservation status of Spanish wild medicinal plants: Implications for sustainability

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 5, Issue 5, Page 1512-1525, October 2023., 2023
Abstract The harvest of wild plants with medicinal uses is increasing globally, both for self‐treatment and as a source of income. The increasing demand for these remedies could lead to the over‐harvest of some species. Despite a recent surge in the number of studies analysing wild medicinal plants management, little is known about the effects of non ...

Addressing controversies in the xylem embolism resistance–vessel diameter relationship

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 238, Issue 1, Page 283-296, April 2023., 2023
Summary Although xylem embolism is a key process during drought‐induced tree mortality, its relationship to wood anatomy remains debated. While the functional link between bordered pits and embolism resistance is known, there is no direct, mechanistic explanation for the traditional assumption that wider vessels are more vulnerable than narrow ones. We
