Informal Trade of Psychoactive Herbal Products in the City of Diadema, SP, Brazil: Quality and Potential Risks

open access: yesEvidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
The present study aimed to assess the quality and risks involved in the consumption of psychoactive herbal products (PHs) that are available through informal commerce in the city of Diadema, SP, Brazil. Methods of ethnography were used to conduct the fieldwork during which four dealers were selected to record the collection, handling, packaging, types ...

Forest growth resistance and resilience to the 2018–2020 drought depend on tree diversity and mycorrhizal type

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 112, Issue 8, Page 1787-1803, August 2024.
Drought resistance and resilience of tree communities depend on tree diversity and mycorrhizal association types. Mixing tree species with diverse mycorrhizal types holds promise for forest restoration in the face of climate change. Abstract The frequency of consecutive drought years is predicted to increase due to climate change.

Assessment and prediction of the invasiveness of some alien plants in conditions of climate change in the steppe Dnieper region

open access: yesBiosystems Diversity, 2017
The flora of the steppe Dnieper region is characterized by an abundance of naturalized alien species, some of which colonised over the last decade. Climate change, associated primarily with increasing temperature, became clearly manifested in this period.

Tree and mycorrhizal fungal diversity drive intraspecific and intraindividual trait variation in temperate forests: Evidence from a tree diversity experiment

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 38, Issue 5, Page 1089-1103, May 2024.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract The study of tree species coexistence is crucial to understand the assembly of forest communities. In this context, trees adjust their traits in response to the interactions with other trees and, specifically, as a result of the competition for resources.

Biodiversity of woody species in large-leaved lime sits in Noshahr forests (Iran) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of BioScience and Biotechnology, 2015
Species diversity is one of the most important indices used for evaluating the sustainability of forest. This study aims to characterize the large-leaved lime stand and to identify and compare the tree species diversity in the study area.

Mycorrhizal type and tree diversity affect foliar elemental pools and stoichiometry

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 242, Issue 4, Page 1614-1629, May 2024.
Summary Species‐specific differences in nutrient acquisition strategies allow for complementary use of resources among plants in mixtures, which may be further shaped by mycorrhizal associations. However, empirical evidence of this potential role of mycorrhizae is scarce, particularly for tree communities.
