“Metabolight”: how light spectra shape plant growth, development and metabolism

open access: yesPhysiologia Plantarum, Volume 176, Issue 6, November/December 2024.
Abstract Innovations in light technologies (i.e. Light Emitting Diodes; LED) and cover films with specific optical features (e.g. photo‐selective, light‐extracting) have revolutionized crop production in both protected environments and open fields.

Linking stomatal size and density to water use efficiency and leaf carbon isotope ratio in juvenile and mature trees

open access: yesPhysiologia Plantarum, Volume 176, Issue 6, November/December 2024.
Abstract Water‐use efficiency (WUE) is affected by multiple leaf traits, including stomatal morphology. However, the impact of stomatal morphology on WUE across different ontogenetic stages of tree species is not well‐documented. Here, we investigated the relationship between stomatal morphology, intrinsic water‐use efficiency (iWUE) and leaf carbon ...

Investigating physiological responses and fine particulate matter retention of urban trees in Budapest

open access: yesCity and Environment Interactions
The urban environment is posing substantial challenges to both human well-being and the growth of plantations. Deploying advanced urban trees that effectively interact with atmospheric pollution will be a crucial step in urban planning. However, there is

Commodity risk assessment of Betula pendula and Betula pubescens plants from the UK

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 22, Issue 11, November 2024.
Abstract The European Commission requested the EFSA Panel on Plant Health to prepare and deliver risk assessments for commodities listed in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/2019 as ‘High risk plants, plant products and other objects’. This Scientific Opinion covers plant health risks posed by plants of Betula pendula and B.

Features of polypeptide composition of seed reserve proteins in species of the genus Tilia under conditions of urban agglomeration

open access: yesAgrology, 2022
Plants of the genus Tilia L. are one of the most widespread decorative species in Ukraine. Anthropogenic environmental factors negatively affect the tree growth and development (including seed viability), which negatively affects plant ontogenesis ...

Characterization of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus stoichiometry of plant leaves in the riparian zone of Dahuofang Reservoir

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2024.
Exploring the stoichiometric characteristics of plant leaves in riparian zones. Exploring the relationship between specific leaf area and C, N, P. Abstract Carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) are essential nutrients that promote plant growth and development and maintain the stability of ecosystem structure and function. Analyzing the C, N, and

Pest categorisation of Popillia quadriguttata

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 22, Issue 6, June 2024.
Abstract The EFSA Panel on Plant Health performed a pest categorisation of Popillia quadriguttata (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae), following a commodity risk assessment of bonsai Pinus parviflora grafted onto P. thunbergii from China, in which P. quadriguttata was identified as a pest of possible concern for the territory of the European Union.
