Spotlight Tiling

open access: yesAnnals of Combinatorics, 2010
This article introduces spotlight tiling, a type of covering which is similar to tiling. The distinguishing aspects of spotlight tiling are that the "tiles" have elastic size, and that the order of placement is significant. Spotlight tilings are decompositions, or coverings, and can be considered dynamic as compared to typical static tiling methods.

Self-Affine Tilings with Several Tiles, I

open access: yesApplied and Computational Harmonic Analysis, 1999
A collection \(T_i \subseteq {\mathbb R}^d\), \(i=1, \ldots, M\), together with an expanding \(d\times d\) matrix \(A\), and a collection of sets \(\Gamma_{ij} \subseteq {\mathbb Z}^d\), \(i,j=1, \ldots, M\), is called \textit{self-affine} if \[ AT_i = \bigcup_{j=1}^M (\Gamma_{ij}+T_j), \;\;(i=1, \ldots, M) \] (the sets in the union above are assumed ...

Open-Source Software for Building-Integrated Photovoltaic Tiling for Novelty Architecture

open access: yesDesigns
Novelty architecture buildings can be tiled with conventional rectangular solar photovoltaic (PV) modules with both close-packed cells or partially transparent modules, vastly increasing renewable energy, reducing carbon emissions, and allowing for ...

Fenestrations induced by perfect tilings

open access: yesApplied General Topology, 2002
In this paper we study those regular fenestrations (as defined by Kronheimer in [3]) that are obtained from a tiling of a topological space. Under weak conditions we obtain that the canonical grid is also the minimal grid associated to each tiling and we

Cubic Shaping of Lattice Constellations from Multi-Level Constructions from Codes

open access: yesMathematics
Lattice codes play an important role in wireless communication and are closely related to linear codes. Multi-level constructions of complex lattices from codes are known to produce lattice codes with desirable parameters and efficient encoding and ...

Conditions for privatizing the elements of arrays by computing threads

open access: yesЖурнал Белорусского государственного университета: Математика, информатика, 2019
The set of operations of the parallel algorithm for implementation on the GPU must be split into computation threads.  The threads must be grouped into computation units that run atomically on stream processors, also called multiprocessors.  For good GPU

Mott criticality as the confinement transition of a pseudogap-Mott metal

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
The phenomenon of Mott insulation involves the localisation of itinerant electrons due to strong local repulsion. Upon doping, a pseudogap (PG) phase emerges—marked by selective gapping of the Fermi surface without conventional symmetry breaking in spin ...

Distribución de tensiones en fachadas de azulejos sujetas a dilataciones térmicas

open access: yesBoletín de la Sociedad Española de Cerámica y Vidrio, 2006
Tiles have been widely used in building facades due to important qualities such as little maintenance needed and high performance under aggressive environmental conditions, but tiles also present some limitations. One among them is that tile glaze brakes
