Reassessing Neotropical angiosperm distribution patterns based on monographic data: a geometric interpolation approach [PDF]
Monographic data rely on specimens deposited in herbaria and museums, which have been thoroughly revised by experts. However, monographic data have been rarely used to map species richness at large scale, mainly because of the difficulties caused by ...

Environmental filtering shapes bromeliad community assembly along a coastal–inland humidity gradient in southern Brazil. Higher humidity and climatic stability favor niche conservatism and persistence of C3 tank lineages, whereas lower humidity and greater variability promote trait convergence and repeated emergence of atmospheric CAM strategies under ...

Tissue culture enhances the propagation potential of some Tillandsioideae
Seeds of three Tillandsia species were germinated in vitro and multiple shoots produced within 13 months in culture. Different Murashige and Skoog media; full- strength, half-strength, and half-strength macro/full micro salts plus 25mgl−1 NaFeEDTA, were used for germination.

Many species of the Bromeliaceae are under threat due to the fragmentation and anthropogenic pressure affecting the Atlantic Forest highlight the need to conservation efforts. The genus Hohenbergia deserves special attention in this context, as the Hohenbergia stellata complex includes endemic species that rely on diverse reproductive strategies, which

Plain Language Summary Summary Neotropical Bromeliaceae occupy an exceptional diversity of habitats. The five principal functional types, which are defined by innovations such as Crassulacean acid metabolism (CAM), epiphytism, the tank growth form and neoteny, display distinct ecological water‐use strategies.

The Tillandsia adpressa Assemblage: A Review and New Combinations in Racinaea (Bromeliaceae: Tillandsioideae) [PDF]
Studies of the Bromeliaceae have led to a reevaluation of the four-taxa Tillandsia adpressa Andre assemblage. Herbarium research and field studies show that three of the taxa in the assemblage should be recognized at the specific rank, while the remaining one should be transferred to subspecific status.

Are the wing's cells alive? Study case in Vriesea trichomes
The presence of peltate foliar trichomes is one of the main anatomical characteristic of Bromeliaceae. These complex structures are adapted to compensate water and nutrient absorption in species that have reduced or substrate and light-reflection ...
