Exogenous Hormonal Application Regulates the Occurrence of Wheat Tillers by Changing Endogenous Hormones

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
Plant hormones play important roles in regulating the occurrence of crop tillers. However, little is known about the relationships and the underlying mechanisms between endogenous hormones and the occurrence of wheat tillers induced by exogenous hormones.

Identifying common crop traits to address the variability in tiller production between sorghum and rice canopies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Developing a common mechanistic model to predict tiller dynamics in sorghum and rice canopies growing in favorable conditions can greatly contribute to the identification of common genetic regions involved in tiller production of both species.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Tillering behavior in Oryza sativa L. VI. The tillering behavior at late tillering stage.

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Crop Science, 1989
The tillering behavior of rice plants (1 plant/pot) at the late tillering stage was investigated. Assuming plant growth in which a leaf of each tiller and a leaf of the main stem expand synchronously (synchronous growth), we made a growth curve of tiller number which we called a 'synchronous growth curve (SGC).

Unprecedented Scissor Effect of Macromolecular Cross-linkers on the Glass Transition Temperature of Poly(N-vinylimidazole), Crystallinity Suppression of Poly(tetrahydrofuran) and Molecular Mobility by Solid State NMR in Poly(N-vinylimidazole)-l-poly(tetrahydrofuran) Conetworks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Unexpected correlations have been found between structural parameters and glass transition temperatures (Tg) of poly(N-vinylimidazole) (PVIm) and crystallinity of poly(tetrahydrofuran) (PTHF) in a series of novel, unique PVIm-l-PTHF amphiphilic ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Divergent responses of tiller and grain yield to fertilization and fallow precipitation: Insights from a 28-year long-term experiment in a semiarid winter wheat system

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2021
Tillering is an important phenological stage, which is strongly related to the yield in spike components and final grain yield during winter wheat growth.

A five-year study of the striped bass fishery of Maryland, based on analyses of the scales [PDF]

open access: yes, 1950
The striped bass, or rock as the species is called in the Chesapeake area, ranks high in value and volume among the commercially important fish taken in Maryland waters and, in addition, is highly prized as a game fish by sportsmen.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐
