Optimized nitrogen application increases rice yield by improving the quality of tillers

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2022
The quantity and quality of tillers determine the yield of rice. In order to explore how optimized nitrogen fertilizer application (OFA) increases rice yield by affecting tiller growth, a pot experiment with three nitrogen treatments was performed on the

Effects of daughter tiller removal on shoot and root growth of the parent tiller in Lolium perenne

open access: yesGrassland Research, 2022
Background This study investigated the effects of daughter tiller removal on parent tiller development in Lolium perenne. Methods Plants of L. perenne were grown hydroponically to allow separation of roots by phytomer position on the tiller axis and ...

Development of axillary shoot in tillering and no-tillering maize plants.

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Crop Science, 1987
Development of all axillary shoots was investigated using tillering cultivars (delegated by cv. Longfellow) and no-tillering cultivars (delegated by cv. Yellow Dent) in maize. There was a buttress or axillary bud with only prophyll at the axil just above the topmost fertile ear node in both cultivars (Figs. 1, 2), but this did not develop any more (Fig.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
