Genome sequencing and phylogenetic analyses of common and dwarf bunt of wheat provide insights into their genomic diversity and species boundaries, and enable the development of a detection assay for Tilletia controversa [PDF]
The fungal genus Tilletia is generally recognized by the production of darkly pigmented teliospores, which replace mostly the host ovary. Currently, nearly 200 species of Tilletia species infecting Poaceae are included in this smut genus.

Development of a loop-mediated isothermal amplification assay for the detection of Tilletia controversa based on genome comparison. [PDF]
Tilletia controversa causing dwarf bunt of wheat is a quarantine pathogen in several countries. Therefore, its specific detection is of great phytosanitary importance. Genomic regions routinely used for phylogenetic inferences lack suitable polymorphisms

Uticaj izvora inokuluma Tilletia spp. i uslova sredine na učestalost zaraženih klasova [PDF]
The influence of inoculum source on the incidence of common bunt, caused by fungi from the genus Tilletia, was estimated based on the frequency of bunt infected wheat spikes in our agroecological conditions.

Assessing varietal resistances to control common wheat bunt under organic cereal production and soft wheat, in particular [PDF]
Common wheat bunt (caused by the fungus Tilletia caries or Tilletia foetida) is a disease whose incidence is clearly on the rise in organic farming, jeopardising the balance of the French organic cereal sector.

AAC W1876 hard red spring wheat [PDF]
AAC W1876 hard red spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) has grain yield and time to maturity within the range of the check cultivars: Katepwa, Laura, Lillian, Carberry, and CDC Kernen. AAC W1876 has an awned spike, a low lodging score indicative of strong

Identifying resistance genes in wheat against common bunt (Tilletia caries) by use of virulence pattern of the pathogen [PDF]
455 wheat varieties and breeding lines were grown in the field, contaminated with 7 to 11 different races of common bunt. Based on the reaction of the lines to the different virulence races, it was possible to group the lines by differential varieties ...

Inheritance Studies of a Wheat Cross to Six Races of Covered Smut [PDF]
Covered smut is a fungus disease that has caused serious losses of wheat for centuries. Its origin is not known, but it was well known to early Romans as evidenced by the fact that they had a god, Robigus, whose special work was to watch over crops to ...

ASSESSMENT RESULTS OF COLLECTION SAMPLES OF WINTER WHEAT ON TOLERANCE TO SMUT (TILLETIA LEVIS)
The article gives the analysis of the experiments of 106 winter wheat cultivars of different origin on tolerance to smut fungi. The pathogen being present from the moment of sprouting till seed maturation makes a suppressing effect on the plant. It reduces seed germination, makes plants be stunted and reduces seed filling.
