ASSESSMENT RESULTS OF COLLECTION SAMPLES OF WINTER WHEAT ON TOLERANCE TO SMUT (TILLETIA LEVIS)

open access: yesЗерновое хозяйство России, 2018
The article gives the analysis of the experiments of 106 winter wheat cultivars of different origin on tolerance to smut fungi.  The pathogen being present from the moment of sprouting till seed maturation makes a suppressing effect on the plant.

TaWRKY10 transcription factor is a novel jasmonic acid signalling regulator involved in immunity against Septoria tritici blotch disease in wheat

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 70, Issue 6, Page 1397-1408, August 2021., 2021
TaWRKY10 plays a major role in suppressing immune responses against Zymoseptoria tritici in wheat. We reveal that this immunosuppression is accomplished by down‐regulating jasmonic acid signalling in wheat. Septoria tritici blotch (STB), caused by the fungus Zymoseptoria tritici, is currently the main threat to worldwide wheat production in temperate ...

Expecting the unexpected: factors influencing the emergence of fungal and oomycete plant pathogens

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 225, Issue 1, Page 118-125, January 2020., 2020
Summary In recent years, the number of emergent plant pathogens (EPPs) has grown substantially, threatening agroecosystem stability and native biodiversity. Contributing factors include, among others, shifts in biogeography, with EPP spread facilitated by the global unification of monocultures in modern agriculture, high volumes of trade in plants and ...

Revisions to the Classification, Nomenclature, and Diversity of Eukaryotes

open access: yesJournal of Eukaryotic Microbiology, Volume 66, Issue 1, Page 4-119, January/February 2019., 2019
Abstract This revision of the classification of eukaryotes follows that of Adl et al., 2012 [J. Euk. Microbiol. 59(5)] and retains an emphasis on protists. Changes since have improved the resolution of many nodes in phylogenetic analyses. For some clades even families are being clearly resolved.

The susceptibility of spring soft wheat to smut of Tatarstan origin

open access: yesЗерновое хозяйство России, 2018
The assessment of spring soft wheat varieties artificially infected with smut pathogen showed that more than a half of cultivars recommended to cultivation in the Republic of Tatarstan are extremely susceptible to the disease. The varieties ‘Simbirtsit’,

Organic small grain production in the Upper Midwest and Northeast: Challenges and lessons learned

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 116, Issue 6, Page 2735-2753, November/December 2024.
Abstract Small grains provide agronomic benefits that are critical to the success of organic production, and opportunities within local food movements create expanded markets for small grains. However, diversifying rotations with small grains can present challenges related to production, infrastructure, and markets.
