Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Aerodynamic Configuration and Stability Analysis of a Split-Type Tilt-Rotor Cargo Flying Vehicle
The flying car, academically known as electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, is one of the core vehicles for low-altitude transportation. The split-type tilt-rotor cargo flying vehicle that is composed of tilt rotors, a fixed wing, and a

Wind farm modelling of tilted rotors
Abstract This study explores the benefits of tilted rotors in wind farms, focusing on a 3x3 grid of 10MW turbines and a 153-turbine farm modelled after the Hollandse-Kust West site with 15MW turbines. Computational Fluid Dynamics models ranging from mid to higher order, including FarmFlow (Parabolic RANS), TNO-VBM (RANS), and NREL-SOWFA (

Optimization of the Production of Rubber Compounds Using Mathematical Models
Rubber compounds were mixed in a batch internal mixer, and symbolic regression was used to derive mathematical models linking recipe and process parameters to ram path, torque, and mixing quality (incorporation, dispersion, distribution). Subsequent optimization with evolutionary algorithms identified operating conditions that reduce specific energy ...

COFs on MOFs: Layer‐by‐Layer Synthesis of MOF@COF Nanoparticles with Synergistic Adsorption
A layer‐by‐layer strategy enables the growth of crystalline covalent organic framework (COF) shells on metal–organic framework nanoparticles, creating core–shell structures with tunable porosity. Ordered interstitial mesopores are formed during shell growth, which are connected with the COF's intrinsic micropores, thereby enhancing water sorption. This

Effect of Rotor Tilt on the Gust Rejection Properties of Multirotor Aircraft
In order to operate safely in windy and gusty conditions, multirotor VTOL aircraft require gust resilience. This paper shows that their gust rejection properties can be improved by applying a small amount of fixed outward rotor tilt. Standard aerodynamic

Stacked nanoflake assembly (SNA) membranes can oscillate autonomously, offering opportunities for soft actuation and energy harvesting. This work uncovers the physical mechanism behind the sustained oscillation of SNA membranes in gradient humidity and identifies three governing dimensionless parameters, enabling rational design for optimizing SNA ...

Nonlocal Metaspire: A Scalable Elastic Material Platform With Decoupled Mechanical Modes
Nonlocal Metaspire introduces sequential rotation to realize wider scalability in implementing complex nonlocal couplings in elastic metamaterials while suppressing unintended mode coupling. Numerical results clarify the underlying wave motions, demonstrate mode‐decoupled roton and maxon formation, and support a straightforward extension to higher ...

Aeroelastic optimization of a composite tilt rotor
Composite tilt rotor aeroelastic optimization is performed by using a mixed variational formulation based on exact intrinsic equations of motion for moving beams and a finite-state dynamic inflow theory. A composite box-beam model is used to represent the principal load carrying member of the rotor blade. The blade is discretized using finite elements.
