Native Lignin Migration and Clustering in Wood: Superhydrophobic, Antimold, and Tribonegative Layers for Rain‐Driven Electrification

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes a sustainable solution for rainwater‐driven energy harvesting by harnessing the intrinsic properties of lignin in wood. The first demonstration of an all‐wood tribonegative material for liquid–solid triboelectric nanogenerators is presented, eliminating the need for fluorine‐containing polymers and functional additives. Abstract The

Influence of gravitational tilt on the thermocapillary convection in a non-axisymmetric liquid bridge

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
Fluid slosh caused by residual acceleration in microgravity is a common problem encountered in space engineering. To solve this problem, the ground-based experiment research on the influence of gravity jitter and gravitational tilt on the thermocapillary

Substrate Engineering for Durable Omniphobic Liquid‐Like Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The significant yet less investigated role of substrates in determining the liquid‐repellency and mechanical durability of liquid‐like surfaces (LLSs) is explored. Thick and crack‐free sol–gel silica intermediary layers are developed that can smoothen substrate asperity roughness even at the micron scale, enabling omniphobic polydimethylsiloxane‐based ...

Hydrogen‐Bubble Repellent Conjugated Polymeric Coating for Improving Electrochemical Hydrogen Evolution.

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hydrogen‐bubble repellent conjugated polymeric coating improves an electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction maintaining a lower overpotential, a highly electrochemically active surface area and smaller Tafel slope. While the hydrogen‐bubble repellence because of polyglycerol moiety ensures an early detachment of produced hydrogen gas bubbles, the ...

Tracking with a pan-tilt-zoom camera for an ACC system

open access: yes, 2001
In this paper, visual perception of frontal view in intelligent cars is considered. A Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera is used to track preceding vehicles. The aim of this work is to keep the rear view image of the target vehicle stable in scale and position. An efficient real time tracking algorithm is integrated.

A Transparent Semicrystalline Polymer Used in Thermally Responsive Smart Window Application

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A thermally responsive smart window is fabricated based on a transparent semicrystalline polymer via copolymerizing stearyl acrylate and ethoxylated trimethylolpropane triacrylate. The high transparency is achieved by restricting the crystal domain to nanometer size via ultraviolet curing at a high temperature.
