Controlling Aggregation‐Induced Emission by Sterics in Nitrogen–Boron–Nitrogen (NBN)‐Doped Tetraphenylethylene‐Like Molecular Propellers

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Nitrogen–boron–nitrogen (NBN)‐substituted molecular propellers are presented as structural framework for aggregation induced emission (AIE) applications. Steric hindrance is revealed to steer maximum‐AIE behavior, leading to refined control over assembly‐induced luminescence.

Structural Aspects of Lithium‐Ion Conduction in the Phosphidotitanate Li8TiP4 and Its Comparison With Li7+5xTa1−xP4 and Li8−xTi1−xTaxP4

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The chemical system Li/Ti/P has previously been subject to intensive investigation. However, reliable structural data for the reported phases have remained elusive. Motivated by the growing interest in phosphorus‐based lithium‐ion conductors, we have reinvestigated the synthesis, crystal structure, and physical properties of Li8TiP4.

Control Allocation of a Tilting Rotor Hexacopter

open access: yes, 2017
The ”Voliro” system developed during a one-year student project at ETH Zurich, is a novel concept of a rotary-wing UAV, designed as a multicopter with a classical planar configuration, whereby the thrust motors can be tilted around their axes. This allows the system to decouple position and orientation as well as move omnidirectionally. This bachelor

Powered-lift aircraft technology [PDF]

open access: yes
Powered lift aircraft have the ability to vary the magnitude and direction of the force produced by the propulsion system so as to control the overall lift and streamwise force components of the aircraft, with the objective of enabling the aircraft to ...

Operando Magic Angle Spinning Solid‐State NMR Spectroscopy of Methanol Photoreforming Over Titania‐Coated Silica Monoliths

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Photoreforming of methanol is followed in real time by solid‐state Magic Angle Spinning NMR. The transparent sapphire sample holder is irradiated by four LEDs at 11.5 kHz MAS. Efficient light penetration into the sample volume is ensured by silica monoliths with a network of macropores, coated with TiO2, and enhancing light penetration by a factor of ...

Purification, Fluorescent Labeling, and Detyrosination of Mammalian Cell Tubulin for Biochemical Assays

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microtubules play essential roles in numerous cellular processes. All microtubules are built from the protein tubulin, yet individual microtubules can differ spatially and temporally due to their tubulin isotype composition and post‐translational modifications (PTMs).

Electrochemical Water Oxidation Mechanisms Involving Macrocyclic Copper(II) Complexes: Ligand Ring Size Effects on Catalytic Cycles

open access: yesChemPhysChem, EarlyView.
The ring size of the ligand strongly influences electronic properties, steric effects, and coordination modes of key intermediates. Both catalysts show similar energy barriers for OO bond formation, but [Cu(12‐TMC)]2+ exhibits more complex mechanisms due to ligand reorganization.

Application of a cost/performance measurement system on a research aircraft project [PDF]

open access: yes
The fundamentals of the cost/performance management system used in the procurement of two tilt rotor aircraft for a joint NASA/Army research project are discussed. The contractor's reporting system and the GPO's analyses are examined.
