Numerical Calculations on the Unsteady Aerodynamic Force of the Tilt-Rotor Aircraft in Conversion Mode

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2019
A computational method is developed in order to predict the unsteady aerodynamic characteristics of the tilt-rotor aircraft in conversion mode. In this approach, the rotor is modeled as an actuator disk so that the effect of individual blades can be ...

Particle swarm optimization based proportional-derivative parameters for unmanned tilt-rotor flight control and trajectory tracking

open access: yesAutomatika, 2020
This paper presents the dynamic modelling and control technique for a tilt-rotor aerial vehicle operating in bi-rotor mode. This kind of aircraft combines two flight envelopes, making it ideal for scenarios that require hovering, vertical take-off ...

Tilt-rotor multivariable attitude control with rotor state feedback

open access: yesIFAC-PapersOnLine, 2016
In this paper, a multi-objective optimization-based methodology for rotorcraft attitude control law design is applied to a tilt-rotor case; the framework allows to enforce requirements of stability, performance, control action moderation, and safety.

A Nonlinear Robust Sliding Mode Controller with Auxiliary Dynamic System for the Hovering Flight of a Tilt Tri-Rotor UAV

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The tilt tri-rotor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has three flight modes: the hover mode, the transition mode, and the fixed-wing mode. Controller design in the hover mode is the premise of realizing stable flight of this kind of UAV.

Numerical Analysis on the Influence of Rotor Configuration on Quad-Rotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Flight Performance

open access: yesDrones
While fixed, unactuated rotor tilt is increasingly utilised in commercial multi-rotor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), its impact on forward flight performance remains poorly documented in the literature.

Aeroelastic optimization of a composite tilt rotor

open access: yes39th AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Conference and Exhibit, 1998
Composite tilt rotor aeroelastic optimization is performed by using a mixed variational formulation based on exact intrinsic equations of motion for moving beams and a finite-state dynamic inflow theory. A composite box-beam model is used to represent the principal load carrying member of the rotor blade. The blade is discretized using finite elements.
