Spheromak tilt stabilization with an energetic particle component
The Physics of Fluids, 1988The tilt and shift stability of a spheromak plasma in the presence of a large orbit ion-ring component is determined by evaluating the magnetic interaction of the plasma with the ion ring and the external coils. Neither the ion-ring toroidal current nor the ring inverse aspect ratio is required to be small.

Stability of a stratified tilted vortex
2006The stability of a vortex tilted with respect to the stratification has been investigated theoretically and experimentally. The basic flow solution has been obtained analytically in the limit of small inclination angles. The inviscid approximation of the solution exhibits a singularity whereN = Ω(r), with N the Brunt-V¨aisala frequency and Ω(r) the ...

Stability of the Thermal Convection in a Tilted Square Cavity
Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1996The stability of the two-dimensional thermal convection in a square cavity heated from one side is investigated by restricting two-dimensional disturbances. The four sides of the cavity are assumed to be rigid and perfectly thermal conducting. The fluid is in a motionless state when the cavity is placed horizontally with the hotter side down. A thermal

Kinetic tilting stability of field-reversed configurations
The Physics of Fluids, 1986Stability of the internal tilting mode in an elongated prolate field-reversed configuration (FRC) is investigated numerically. Eigenfrequencies are calculated from a Vlasov-fluid dispersion functional that is separated into fluid and kinetic portions. The latter are evaluated by a Monte Carlo method following a sample of the equilibrium orbits.

Thermal Stability of Tilt Grain Boundaries in Graphene
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013We present an assessment of the stability and dynamics of grain boundaries in graphene for different misorientation angles at finite temperature and up to extremely high temperatures, in particular, for a misorientation angle of 6.6, 14.1, 19.66, 27.8, 38.21 and 46.83. We report a high stability against annihilation up to extreme temperatures.

Stability of Precast Concrete Tilt Panels in Fire
2000This report investigates the behaviour of slender cantilever concrete panels and concrete panels in steel frames exposed to elevated temperatures. This report also provides recommendations for the design of slender tilt-up wall panels for fire resistance.
