Syncope is a common clinical problem with multiple potential causes. Recent studies have delineated the natural history and most frequent causes of recurrent syncopal episodes. The medical history and detailed physical examination are particularly important.

Syncope is a frequent diagnostic and therapeutic challenge for emergency room physicians, primary care providers, cardiologists and electrophysiologists. Syncope accounts for 3 % of emergency room visits and 6 % of all hospital admissions, with a lifetime incidence of nearly 40 %.

The aim of this study was the assessment of long-term repeatability of tilt-table test and parameters of heart rate variability analysis. Westminster protocol tilt-table test extended with nitroglycerin test was combined with analysis of heart rate variability.
