Phase-tilting interferometry for optical testing
Optics Letters, 2013Phase-tilting interferometry for optical testing is proposed to retrieve the phase from interferograms with random phase tilts. The Radon transform is used to extract the tilted phase plane, and the phase distribution is retrieved by the least squares method.

Bielschowsky head-tilt test—II. Quantitative mechanics of the Bielschowsky head-tilt test
Vision Research, 1985In ten recent cases of superior oblique (SO) palsy the involved eye elevated by 8.2 +/- 3.8 deg (standard deviation) on 45 deg ipsilateral head tilt. A computer model predicted a rise to only 4.1 deg but could easily achieve 8.2 deg by including reactions in the other cyclovertical muscles, notably on overaction of the superior rectus (SR). In 17 older

Tilt table testing (TTT) was introduced about two decades ago for the evaluation of patients with unexplained syncope. Initially, it was welcome and spread enthusiastically through different medical specialties, but its use has decreased due to the recognition of several limitations when inappropriately employed.

Is there a place for tilt-table testing?
International Journal of Cardiology, 1995logical study discussed above, but with recurrent syncope thought clinically to be of cardiac origin, empirical pacing offers good relief of symptoms. These data were obtained before the advent of tilttable testing which has been shown to be useful in investigating syncope of unknown origin and may have clarified the diagnosis in some cases, although ...

Effect of passive tilting duration on the outcome of head-up tilt testing
Acta Cardiologica, 2007We sought to compare the results of head-up tilt test (HUT) using the most common protocols, namely the Italian and Westminster prolonged by nitroglycerin (modified Westminster) protocols. We also investigated the role of passive tilting duration on HUT outcome. From 478 syncopal patients 306 (64%) individuals showed positive tilting results (HUT ...

On moving from supine to erect posture there is a large gravitational shift of blood away from the chest to the distensible venous capacitance system below the diaphragm. This shift is estimated to total ½–1 L of thoracic blood with most of the volume shift occurring in the first 10 s of upright posture.

Tilt testing in neurocardiogenic syncope
Acta Cardiologica, 2000To compare the diagnostic value of pharmacological stimulation with sublingual isosorbide dinitrate and intravenous isoproterenol during tilt testing in patients with neurocardiogenic syncope and with a negative tilt test without pharmacological provocation. One hundred and twenty patients with a history of neurocardiogenic syncope (aged 15 to 77 years)

Syncope, Tilt Testing, and Cardioversion
2014Syncope is a frequent diagnostic and therapeutic challenge for emergency room physicians, primary care providers, cardiologists and electrophysiologists. Syncope accounts for 3 % of emergency room visits and 6 % of all hospital admissions, with a lifetime incidence of nearly 40 %.

Tilt Table Testing: Concepts and Limitations
Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 1997Recurrent unexplained syncope is a common and often frustrating clinical problem. Over the last decade, bead upright tilt table testing bas emerged as an important diagnostic metbod far the identification of individuals whose syncope is likely to be neurocardiogenic in origin.

Evaluation of the Bielschowsky Head-Tilt Test
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1969Tilting of the head as an aid in diagnosis of paretic vertical muscles is based on the theory that torsional action of the vertical muscles maintains the vertical meridians of the eyes erect when the head is tilted to the side. Since rotation of the optic disc about the macula occurs in the same direction, approximately to the same degree as the head ...
