Measurement and Compensation of Horizontal Crabbing at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring Test Accelerator

open access: yes, 2014
In storage rings, horizontal dispersion in the rf cavities introduces horizontal-longitudinal (xz) coupling, contributing to beam tilt in the xz plane. This coupling can be characterized by a "crabbing" dispersion term {\zeta}a that appears in the normal

Tilt training as a treatment for reflex syncope: a multimodal approach!?

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience
PurposeReflex syncope is a burdensome disease with considerable repercussions on the quality of life. Tilt training is a therapeutic option, but evidence on this topic is scarce and outdated. Hyperventilation is oftentimes associated with reflex syncope.

Hemodynamic Response to the Head-Up Tilt Test in Patients With Syncope as a Predictor of the Test Outcome: A Meta-Analysis Approach

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2019
Aim: The paper presents a meta-analysis of studies comparing hemodynamic parameters: heart rate (HR), systolic blood pressure (sBP), diastolic blood pressure (dBP), and stroke volume (SV) measured during head-up tilt table test (HUTT) in patients with ...

Subband Engineering Even-Denominator Quantum Hall States

open access: yes, 2010
Proposed even-denominator fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE) states suggest the possibility of excitations with non-Abelian braid statistics. Recent experiments on wide square quantum wells observe even-denominator FQHE even under electrostatic tilt ...

Influence of passive leg movements on blood circulation on the tilt table in healthy adults

open access: yesJournal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation, 2004
Background One problem in the mobilization of patients with neurological diseases, such as spinal cord injury, is the circulatory collapse that occurs while changing from supine to vertical position because of the missing venous pump due to paralyzed leg

Teste de inclinação (Tilt-test): do necessário ao imprescindível Test de inclinación (Tilt-test): de lo necesario a lo imprescindible Tilt test: from the necessary to the indispensable

open access: yesArquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia, 2011
O teste de inclinação (TI) é muito utilizado para a investigação de síncopes e pré-síncopes, pois possibilita o diagnóstico de diferentes tipos de disautonomias.

Variation in pelvic morphology may prevent the identification of anterior pelvic tilt [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Pelvic tilt is often quantified using the angle between the horizontal and a line connecting the anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) and the posterior superior iliac spine (PSIS).

Surface flux transport simulations: Effect of inflows toward active regions and random velocities on the evolution of the Sun's large-scale magnetic field

open access: yes, 2015
Aims: We aim to determine the effect of converging flows on the evolution of a bipolar magnetic region (BMR), and to investigate the role of these inflows in the generation of poloidal flux.

Isoproterenol Causing Coronary Vasospasm and ST Elevations During Tilt Table Testing

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Medicine High Impact Case Reports, 2020
Syncope is a sudden but reversible brief loss of consciousness secondary to an acute reduction of cerebral perfusion. Reflex syncope denotes neurologically mediated syncope, which includes vasovagal, carotid sinus syndrome, and other situational syncope.

Rethinking Tilt Testing

open access: yesInternational Journal of Heart Rhythm, 2016
Tilt was used physiologically, 1930s–1970s, becoming a clinical diagnostic test for syncope in 1980s. Tilt has been criticized recently for failing to discriminate between reflex and more sinister syncope. Studies on possible benefit of pacing for older reflex syncope patients (2012–2014) yielded unexpected results.
