Slant-tilt: The visual encoding of surface orientation
Biological Cybernetics, 1983A specific form for the internal representation of local surface orientation is proposed, which is similar to Gibson's (1950) "amount and direction of slant". Slant amount is usually quantified by the angle sigma between the surface normal and the line of sight (0 degrees less than or equal to sigma less than or equal to 90 degrees).

Tilted conic fitting to an off-axis conic surface
Applied Optics, 1991A better fitting to an off-axis conic section can be obtained if a tilted conic is used. The mathematical equation for the tilting angle is obtained as well as the influence over some of the aberration coefficients.

Pronounced overestimation of support surface tilt during stance
Experimental Brain Research, 2005A veridical internal notion of the kinematic state of the foot support is essential for postural control. The means by which this is obtained is still a matter of debate. We therefore measured the conscious perception of support tilt during transient anterior-posterior rotations of a motion platform in six healthy subjects, using a psychophysical ...

Transient meniscus response in tilted cuvettes: Role of surface tension and tilting rate
Physics of FluidsWe investigate the dynamics of liquid emptying from hydrophilic cuvettes with square cross sections, focusing on the role of surface tension, cuvette dimensions, and tilting rate. While the static deformation of menisci is well-studied, the transient behavior during tilting—relevant to practical scenarios such as pouring and accidental toppling—remains

Tilt-invariant theory of rough-surface scattering: I
Waves in Random Media, 1995Summary: The small-slope approximation (SSA) in rough-surfce scattering theory uses the surface slope as a small parameter of expansion. But, from the physical point of view, the slope may not be a restrictive parameter because we can change the slope of a surface simply by tilting the coordinate system.

To Establish A Model for Tilted Surface for Different Cities
Global Sci-Tech, 2020This paper inspects and evaluates the optimum tilt angle in order to maximize the Global solar radiation by utilizing the optimum tilt angle for an inclined solar surface in India. Ten different cities of India situated at totally different geographical locations and with a wide variation of latitudes are taken into consideration.

Evidence for tilted chains on the diamond (111)-(2 × 1) surface
Surface Science, 1998We present the first X-ray diffraction structure analysis of the reconstructed diamond (111) surface. The atomic geometry is obtained from the distribution of diffracted intensities along integer-order rods of Bragg scattering perpendicular to the surface.

Application of linear regression to videokeratoscope data for tilted surfaces
Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics, 2002Purpose: To investigate the use of linear regression analysis performed on the tabular data display of the EyeSys videokeratoscope (VK). When a radius squared vs distance squared scatterplot is produced from aspheric surface data the equivalent conic section can be deduced from the intercept and slope of the ...
