Selective growth of tilted ZnO nanoneedles and nanowires by PLD on patterned sapphire substrates

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
We report the possibility to control the tilting of nanoneedles and nanowires by using structured sapphire substrates. The advantage of the reported strategy is to obtain well oriented growth along a single direction tilted with respect to the surface ...

Growth and welfare of submerged Atlantic salmon under continuous lighting

open access: yesAquaculture Environment Interactions, 2018
Although surface-based cages dominate the marine finfish aquaculture industry, production issues that arise at the surface such as poor environmental conditions and the presence of parasites has spurred interest in submerging cages.

Characterizing Subsurface Rectangular Tilted Heat Sources Using Inductive Thermography

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In this study, we characterize the lateral dimension, depth, and inclination of buried tilted rectangular heat sources from time domain temperature data measured at the surface.

A customized metal guide for controllable modification of anterior teeth contour prior to minimally invasive preparation

open access: yesSaudi Dental Journal, 2021
Objective: Optimal tooth reduction is a key requirement for aesthetics, function, and the longevity of fixed restorations. Research has demonstrated that controlled and conservative tooth preparation is crucial for the long-term success of adhesive ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Study on a Plasmonic Tilted Fiber Grating-Based Biosensor for Calmodulin Detection

open access: yesBiosensors, 2021
Tilted fiber Bragg grating, which has the advantages of both fiber Bragg grating and long-period fiber grating, has been widely studied for sensing in many fields, especially in the field of biochemistry.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Investigation of the positioning accuracy of the Cat’s Eye as a reference position in asphere-measuring interferometry [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
Fast and accurate asphere and freeform measurements are in high demand by the optics manufacturing industry. Interferometric methods such as tilted-wave interferometry meet these demands but require accurate surface positioning of the specimen along the ...

Phase behavior of a nematic liquid crystal in contact with a chemically and geometrically structured substrate

open access: yes, 2005
A nematic liquid crystal in contact with a grating surface possessing an alternating stripe pattern of locally homeotropic and planar anchoring is studied within the Frank--Oseen model.
