Aeroelasticity study of tiltrotor concept-whirlflutter

open access: yes, 2003
In cruise flight, the tiltrotor (VSTOL) is subject to a dynamic aeroelastic instability called whirl flutter. This phenomenon is characterized by whirl movements of the rotor that increase structure load and whose consequences can be fatal. The aim of this study is to set up an analytical model allowing to accurately simulate whirl flutter.
