Noise considerations for tiltrotor
25th Joint Propulsion Conference, 1989A projection is made of the technology-development requirements faced by aircraft designers contemplating the evolution of V-22-type tilt-rotor aircraft technology into a civilian tilt-rotor commuter aircraft of the requisite scale and payload. These research challenges are noted to often involve the reduction of noise level to values tolerated by ...

Civil Tiltrotor Aircraft Operations
11th AIAA Aviation Technology, Integration, and Operations (ATIO) Conference, 2011The goal of the current study is to investigate the benefits and challenges of operating a notional fleet of civil tiltrotor aircraft (10-, 30-, 90-, and 120-passenger vehicles), in the commercial transport role, in the projected Next Generation airspace system.

Development of Practical Tiltrotor UAV
50th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting including the New Horizons Forum and Aerospace Exposition, 2012A Practical Tiltrotor UAV (PTUAV) has been developed and flight tests are under way. The PTUAV was motivated to pursue low cost and high performance while the full-scale tiltrotor UAV development experience was reflected. The PTUAV was targeted to develop a UAV system which has capabilities of VTOL and faster-than-helicopter forward speed with ...

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1988
ROLLED out in May and scheduled to make its first flight in November is the V‐22 Osprey tiltrotor multi‐mission aircraft that has been ordered by four United States Services. Technological advances incorporated in the V‐22 had their beginnings in the XV‐3 in the mid 1950's which proved the feasibility of the tiltrotor concept and in the 1970's the XV ...

Multi-Body Analysis of a Tiltrotor Configuration
Nonlinear Dynamics, 1999The paper describes the aeroelastic analysis of a tiltrotor configuration. The 1/5 scale wind tunnel semispan model of the V-22 tiltrotor aircraft is considered. The analysis is performed by means of a multi-body code, based on an original formulation. The differential equilibrium problem is stated in terms of first order differential equations.

Aeroelastic analysis of advanced geometry tiltrotor aircraft
36th Structures, Structural Dynamics and Materials Conference, 1995A tiltrotor model is formulated to predict the dynamics and aeroelastic stability of composite-coupled advanced geometry rotors. Advanced geometry rotor blades are modeled with arbitrary sweep, anhedral, pretwist and planform taper variation with span.

Folding Tiltrotor Technology Demonstrator - The Next Step for Tiltrotor Technology
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1985<div class="htmlview paragraph">Based on a comparative study of competing V/STOL concepts, the folding tiltrotor offers many advantages for missions requiring long endurance combined with a speed capability in excess of 400 knots. Folding tiltrotor technology development began in 1967 and the results of wind tunnel tests and design studies show ...

A wake bending unsteady dynamic inflow model of tiltrotor in conversion flight of tiltrotor aircraft
Science in China Series E: Technological Sciences, 2009The aerodynamics, dynamic responses and aeroelasticity of tiltrotor aircraft in the tilting of rotor i.e. in conversion flight are extraordinarily complicated. The traditional quasi-steady assumption model can not reflect the unsteady aerodynamic problems in the tilting of rotor.
