The exact time-domain counterpart of spatial-domain holography is introduced and formalized. Its application for arbitrary complex optical signal generation based on intensity-only devices (e.g. single Mach-Zehnder modulator and optical bandpass filter) is experimentally demonstrated.

This chapter will discuss processing of audio signals through the use of time-domain techniques. These act on the samples of a waveform to deliver a variety of effects, from echoes and reverberation to pitch shifting, timbral modification and sound localisation.

We have obtained a value of system delay by minimizing the integrated squared error between the input signal and the appropriately delayed output signal. Most important, this theoretically obtained value is consistent with previous results and our physical reasoning. The various examples bear this out.

The development of this book required writing a multicore solver for Windows to demonstrate the performance of the partitioning method presented herein. Such program requires implementing several time domain simulation concepts not always transparent to users. This chapter introduces such concepts and their notations.

In addition to the methods presented in the previous chapters, any LTI system, including distributed parameters systems, may be fully represented in the time domain by its response to a specific signal called the impulse. This chapter is devoted to the impulse response-representation for the considered class of \(2 \times 2\) hyperbolic systems with ...
