REMEDY FOR LOAD DISCONTINUITY IN TIME HISTORY ANALYSIS

International Journal of Structural Stability and Dynamics, 2012
Discontinuity at the end of an impulse will lead to an amplitude distortion in a time history analysis. This amplitude distortion can be effectively reduced, if a very small time step is used to perform a complete step-by-step integration procedure. As a result, a lot of computational effort is involved.

Structural Time History Response Analysis of Bidirectional Seismic Input

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
In this paper, 6 eccentric structural models are selected as examples, a great many elastic earthquake response analyses are carried out. The biggest action effect which an earthquake brings about when acting in one direction along certain angle is found out, and is defined as a normal value.

Optimum load time history for non‐linear analysis using dynamic relaxation

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1986
AbstractA modification of the dynamic relaxation method is proposed which facilitates static analysis of non‐linear problems. Continuous loading in time is adopted instead of the ordinary step function of time. Inertia and damping forces arising during the loading process are kept at a minimum using an optimum load time history.

NONLINEAR TIME HISTORY ANALYSIS OF A REINFORCED CONCRETE BRIDGE

2021
Earthquakes are one of the greatest natural hazards, which are subject of human research. Bulgaria is a region with medium seismicity and possible seismic impact can lead to damage and destruction both in the building stock and in logistics facilities such as bridges, which would lead to large human and economic losses.

Accurate Representation of External Force in Time History Analysis

Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 2006
It is usually thought that the integration time step should be small enough to represent properly the variation of the dynamic loading with respect to time. However, there is no evaluation criterion that can be used to determine whether the external force is accurately represented.

TIME HISTORY ANALYSIS OF WATER TANK WITH FIXED SUPPORT

The tremors are the results of energy exodus from the inner core of the earth that releases the seismic waves. The impact of these waves is enormous on lives, properties and ambient environment as well by virtue of ground shaking and rupture. It is critical to understand the features of ground motion to take precautions against loss of life and ...
