Bridging the Loneliness Gap: Depression, Connectivity, and Isolation in Pediatric Oncology Patients and Their Peers

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Loneliness is associated with adverse physical and mental health outcomes and remains understudied in children and adolescents undergoing cancer therapy. Pediatric oncology patients may be at increased risk due to medical isolation and disruption of social networks.

Time‐varying Extremum Graphs

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum
AbstractWe introduce time‐varying extremum graph (tveg), a topological structure to support visualization and analysis of a time‐varying scalar field. The extremum graph is a sub‐structure of the Morse–Smale complex. It captures the adjacency relationship between cells in the Morse decomposition of a scalar field.

Early Body Mass Index z‐Score Change and Resolution of Severe Malnutrition in Children With Sickle Cell Anemia in a Low‐Income Setting: A Prospective Single‐Arm Extension Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Children with sickle cell anemia (SCA) in low‐income settings are at risk of severe malnutrition, but optimal nutritional management has not been established. We evaluated an intensified ready‐to‐use therapeutic food (RUTF) regimen in children with persistent severe malnutrition after initial treatment and assessed whether early ...

A distributed penalty-based zeroing neural network for time-varying optimization with both equality and inequality constraints and its application to cooperative control of redundant robot manipulators

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurorobotics
This study addresses the distributed optimization problem with time-varying objective functions and time-varying constraints in a multi-agent system (MAS). To tackle the distributed time-varying constrained optimization (DTVCO) problem, each agent in the

The impact of multiple non-pharmaceutical interventions for China-bound travel on domestic COVID-19 outbreaks

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health, 2023
ObjectivesNon-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) implemented on China-bound travel have successfully mitigated cross-regional transmission of COVID-19 but made the country face ripple effects.

Central Nervous System Tumors Among Infants in Canada: A Report From CYP‐C

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Central nervous system (CNS) tumors in infants are rare, pose unique clinical challenges, and lack large‐scale evidence‐based data to guide management. This study seeks to describe CNS tumors in Canadian infants and to compare their outcomes with those of older children.

Impact of Radiation Therapy on Physical and Psychosocial Health of Adolescents and Young Adults: A Joint Report From the Children's Oncology Group AYA and Radiation Oncology Committees

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rates of cancer among adolescents and young adults (AYA), age 15–39 years, are increasing. Consequently, radiation oncologists are treating more AYAs who have diagnoses spanning both pediatric and adult practices. Compared to pediatric and older adult patients, AYAs face a unique set of challenges.
