A comparison of transmissibility of SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2023
Background The World Health Organization (WHO) has currently detected five Variants of Concern of SARS-CoV-2 having the WHO labels of ‘Alpha’, ‘Beta’, ‘Gamma’, ‘Delta’ and ‘Omicron’. We aimed to assess and compare the transmissibility of the five VOCs in

The Bayesian Method in Estimating Polish and German Industry Betas. A Comparative Analysis of the Risk between the Main Economic Sectors from 2001–2020

open access: yesComparative Economic Research, 2022
This paper examines the long‑term dependence between the Polish and German stock markets in terms of industry beta risk estimates according to the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM). The main objective of this research is to compare the Polish and German

Impact of the quenching of $g_{\rm A}$ on the sensitivity of $0νββ$ experiments [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. C 96, 055501 (2017), 2017
Detection of the neutrinoless $\beta\beta$ ($0\nu\beta\beta$) decay is of high priority in the particle- and neutrino-physics communities. The detectability of this decay mode is strongly influenced by the value of the weak axial-vector coupling constant $g_{\rm A}$.

Long-Term Beta-Blocker Therapy in Patients With Stable Coronary Artery Disease After Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2022
BackgroundIt is unclear whether beta-blocker treatment is advantageous in patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD) who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). We evaluated the clinical impact of long-term beta-blocker maintenance in

High-precision $Q$-value measurement and nuclear matrix elements for the double-$β$ decay of $^{98}$Mo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Neutrinoless double-beta ($0\nu\beta\beta$) decay and the standard two-neutrino double-beta ($2\nu\beta\beta$) decay of $^{98}$Mo have been studied. The double-beta decay $Q$-value has been determined as $Q_{\beta\beta}=113.668(68)$ keV using the JYFLTRAP Penning trap mass spectrometer.

Sectoral Differences in the Choice of the Time Horizon during Estimation of the Unconditional Stock Beta

open access: yesInternational Journal of Financial Studies, 2016
The stock beta coefficient literature extensively discusses the proper methods for the estimation of beta as well as its use in asset valuation. However, there are fewer references with respect to the appropriate time horizon that investors should ...

Nuclear matrix elements of double beta decay from beta decay [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Lett. B607 (2005) 87-95, 2004
The evaluation of the nuclear matrix elements (NME) of the two-neutrino double beta ($2\nu\beta\beta$) decay and neutrinoless double beta ($0\nu\beta\beta$) decay using the proton-neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation (pnQRPA) is addressed.

Continuous and Jump Betas: Implications for Portfolio Diversification

open access: yesEconometrics, 2016
Using high-frequency data, we decompose the time-varying beta for stocks into beta for continuous systematic risk and beta for discontinuous systematic risk. Estimated discontinuous betas for S&P500 constituents between 2003 and 2011 generally exceed

On recursive estimation for time varying autoregressive processes

open access: yes, 2005
This paper focuses on recursive estimation of time varying autoregressive processes in a nonparametric setting. The stability of the model is revisited and uniform results are provided when the time-varying autoregressive parameters belong to appropriate
