Real-time computation of distance to dynamic obstacles with multiple depth sensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We present an efficient method to evaluate distances between dynamic obstacles and a number of points of interests (e.g., placed on the links of a robot) when using multiple depth cameras.

Canonical Forms of $2 \times 2 \times 2$ and $2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 2$ Symmetric Tensors over Prime Fields [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
We consider symmetric tensors of format $2 \times 2 \times 2$ and $2 \times 2 \times 2 \times 2$ over prime fields. Using computer algebra we compute the canonical forms of these tensors. For $2 \times 2 \times 2$ symmetric tensors, we consider the prime fields $\mathbb{F}_p$ for $p = 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17$.

Determining the Magic Wavelength Without Modulation of the Trap Depth

open access: yesOptics
In this paper, the magic wavelength of the 87Sr optical lattice clock is determined by a method that bypasses the need for lattice trap depth modulation.

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

An efficient algorithm for minimizing time granularity periodical representations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper addresses the technical problem of efficiently reducing the periodic representation of a time granularity to its minimal form. The minimization algorithm presented in the paper has an immediate practical application: it allows users to ...

Time Operators and Time Crystals [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
We investigate time operators in the context of quantum time crystals in ring systems. A generalized commutation relation called the generalized weak Weyl relation is used to derive a class of self-adjoint time operators for ring systems with a periodic time evolution: The conventional Aharonov-Bohm time operator is obtained by taking the infinite ...

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...

Equivalence between Random Stopping Times in Continuous Time [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Two concepts of random stopping times in continuous time have been defined in the literature, mixed stopping times and randomized stopping times. We show that under weak conditions these two concepts are equivalent, and, in fact, that all types of random stopping times are equivalent.

Optimal exit decision of venture capital under time-inconsistent preferences [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
This paper proposes two kinds of time-inconsistent preferences (i.e. time flow inconsistency and critical time point inconsistency) to further advance the research on the exit decision of venture capital. Time-inconsistent preference, different from time-consistent preference, assumes that decision makers prefer recent returns rather than future ...

Identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of ETS transcription factors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
ETS transcription factors play an essential role in tumourigenesis and are indispensable for sprouting angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer, which fuels tumour expansion and dissemination. Thus, targeting ETS transcription factor function could represent an effective, multifaceted strategy to block tumour growth. The evolutionarily conserved E‐Twenty‐Six
