'Shoe-Horned And Sidelined'? Challenges For Part-Time Learners In The New HE Landscape [PDF]
This research, undertaken by the Open University, set out to investigate the part-time student experience of higher education across the UK, in the context of a well-publicised contraction in the sector, and increasing divergence between policies ...

Truly Concurrent Process Algebra with Timing [PDF]
We extend truly concurrent process algebra APTC with timing related properties. Just like ACP with timing, APTC with timing also has four parts: discrete relative timing, discrete absolute timing, continuous relative timing and continuous absolute timing.

We present the cellular transcription‐coupled Flp‐nick system allowing the introduction of a Top1‐mimicking cleavage complex (Flpcc) at a Flp recognition target site within a controllable LacZ gene. LacZ transcription leads to the collision of RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) with Flpcc, and this causes RNAPII stalling, ubiquitination, and degradation.

Simplifying Inductive Schemes in Temporal Logic [PDF]
In propositional temporal logic, the combination of the connectives "tomorrow" and "always in the future" require the use of induction tools. In this paper, we present a classification of inductive schemes for propositional linear temporal logic that ...

Drug Stability Analysis by Raman Spectroscopy
Pharmaceutical drugs are available to astronauts to help them overcome the deleterious effects of weightlessness, sickness and injuries. Unfortunately, recent studies have shown that some of the drugs currently used may degrade more rapidly in space ...

Interaction extracellular vesicles (iEVs) are hybrid vesicles formed through host‐pathogen communication. They facilitate immune evasion, transfer pathogens' molecules, increase host cell uptake, and enhance virulence. This Perspective article illustrates the multifunctional roles of iEVs and highlights their emerging relevance in infection dynamics ...

A Modal Logic for Subject-Oriented Spatial Reasoning [PDF]
We present a modal logic for representing and reasoning about space seen from the subject\u27s perspective. The language of our logic comprises modal operators for the relations "in front", "behind", "to the left", and "to the right" of the subject ...

MUSCLE: a multiple sequence alignment method with reduced time and space complexity
BackgroundIn a previous paper, we introduced MUSCLE, a new program for creating multiple alignments of protein sequences, giving a brief summary of the algorithm and showing MUSCLE to achieve the highest scores reported to date on four alignment accuracy
