Substorm time constants

Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 1994
We show that during magnetospheric substorms there is a clear tendency for the westward electrojet current to follow a characteristic curve that can be matched with an exponential equation. The substorm recovery phase has a characteristic timescale, or exponential time constant, that does not vary substantially from one substorm to the next. There is a

Constant-Time Multidimensional Electrophoretic NMR

Journal of Magnetic Resonance, 2002
Multidimensional electrophoretic NMR (ENMR) has been introduced to determine structures of coexisting proteins and protein conformations in solution. Signals of different proteins are separated in a new dimension of electrophoretic flow according to their characteristic electrophoretic mobilities.

Ultralow vestibuloocular reflex time constants

Annals of Neurology, 1988
AbstractWe report detailed oculomotor studies in 3 patients with central nervous system lesions and markedly decreased time constants (< 2 seconds) of the vestibuloocular reflex (VOR). In 1 patient with Chiari type I malformation, serial measurements over 3 years documented a progressive decrease in the duration of postrotatory nystagmus (100 deg ...

Constant-Time Randomized Parallel String Matching

SIAM Journal on Computing, 1997
Summary: Given a pattern string of length \(m\) for the string-matching problem, we design an algorithm that computes deterministic samples of a sufficiently long substring of the pattern in constant time. This problem used to be the bottleneck in the pattern preprocessing for one- and two-dimensional pattern matching. The best previous time bound was \

Constant Time REDOR NMR Spectroscopy

2012
Abstract The constant time version of rotational echo double resonance (CT-REDOR) may be applied as an expedient alternative to the existing REDOR versions in cases in which strong heteronuclear dipolar couplings severely complicate the data analysis and render an accurate determination of the second moments impossible. The various facets of CT-REDOR

Constant Time Stereo Matching

2009 13th International Machine Vision and Image Processing Conference, 2009
Typically, local methods for stereo matching are fast but have relatively low degree of accuracy while global ones, though costly, achieve a higher degree of accuracy in retrieving disparity information. Recently, however, some local methods such as those based on segmentation or adaptive weights are suggested to possibly achieve more accuracy than ...

Time constants of acoustic adaptation

Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology, 1981
Evoked potentials were recorded from cochlear nuclei of intact, awake cats through chronically implanted electrodes during stimulation with 10,000 c/sec at 35 dB above the visual detection threshold of evoked potentials. The stimulus rate was varied from 0.5 to 100/sec and the stimulus duration was varied from 1 to 1800 msec but no overlap occurred ...

CTD time-constant correction

Deep Sea Research Part A. Oceanographic Research Papers, 1986
Abstract A method of correcting CTD data for dynamic errors resulting from time-constant mismatch has been developed which uses only the observed data and does not require separate measurements of sensor responses. The required correction is estimated in the frequency domain from the power and cross spectra, a process that requires one to make a ...
