An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

RESEARCH OF DYNAMIC PARAMETERS OF THE ELECTRIC DRIVE ON THE BASIS OF ROLLING ROTOR MOTOR

open access: yesElectrical engineering & Electromechanics, 2016
Purpose. Development and investigation of a dynamic model of electric drive on the base of the rolling rotor motor (RRM) which reflects the positioning of the actuator of the locking and regulating equipment in time. Methodology.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Deformation behavior during partial diameter-enlarged process at high rotation speeds

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2018
This paper presents the deformation behavior of SUS304 specimens during partial diameter-enlarged process in a rotation speed region higher than the rotation speed region of conventional diameter-enlarged processing methods.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Induction coils for measuring low frequency and low intensity magnetic fields [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik Radova: Elektrotehnički Institut "Nikola Tesla", 2020
Short air core induction coils with a large radius and a large number of turns can be successfully used as induction sensors for detecting low-intensity quasistationary magnetic fields, such as magnetic fields of ships.

Full-fledged Real-Time Indexing for Constant Size Alphabets

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we describe a data structure that supports pattern matching queries on a dynamically arriving text over an alphabet ofconstant size. Each new symbol can be prepended to $T$ in O(1) worst-case time.

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell
