Optimizing Convolution Direction and Template Selection for Difference Image Analysis

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
Difference image analysis (DIA) is a powerful tool for studying time-variable phenomena, and has been used by many time-domain surveys. Most DIA algorithms involve matching the spatially varying point-spread function shape between science and template ...

Performance Constraints of All‐Perovskite Tandem Solar Cells in Low‐Intensity, Low‐Temperature Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
All‐perovskite tandem solar cells are evaluated under low‐intensity and low‐temperature (LILT) conditions relevant to space environments. Distinct loss regimes emerge, where weaker entropic mixing causes halide segragation below ≈240 K going along with a strong current imbalance, while poor electron transport in C60 dominates.

A Contact Binary Misclassified as an Ellipsoidal Variable: Complications for Detached Black Hole Searches

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Identifying sources exhibiting ellipsoidal variability in large photometric surveys is becoming a promising method to search for candidate detached black holes (BHs) in binaries.

Meissner Effect and Nonreciprocal Charge Transport in Non‐Topological 1T‐CrTe2/FeTe Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates interface‐induced superconductivity (Tc ∼12 K) with a robust Meissner effect and pronounced nonreciprocal transport in epitaxial 1T‐CrTe2/FeTe heterostructures, where 1T‐CrTe2 is a 2D ferromagnet, and FeTe is an antiferromagnetic metal.

Emergent Freestanding Complex Oxide Membranes for Multifunctional Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review surveys freestanding oxide membranes and covers fabrication and three pathways for studies and devices: strain‐free and strained membranes, and van der Waals‐integrated heterostructures. We show how coupled oxide responses map onto these routes and cross‐couple to expand behaviors.

Atomically Resolved Acoustic Dynamics Coupled with Magnetic Order in a Van der Waals Antiferromagnet

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetically coupled acoustic phonon modes (f1, f2, f3) are captured by ultrafast X‐ray diffraction in a prototypical van der Waals antiferromagnet FePS3, including their atomic displacement vectors (u) and the acoustic propagation wave vectors (k). Notably, the atomic displacement vector and amplitude of these modes, represented by the direction and ...

Prediscovery TESS Observations of Interstellar Object 3I/ATLAS

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
3I/ATLAS, also known as C/2025 N1 (ATLAS), is the third known macroscopic interstellar object to pass through our solar system. We report serendipitous Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) observations of 3I/ATLAS taken between 2025 May 7 and ...

Flares from coalescing black holes in the centimeter-wavelength transient sky [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Radio observations have resulted in some of the most fundamental and exciting discoveries in time-domain astronomy. Here I demonstrate the potential for the Next Generation Very Large Array (ngVLA) to localize prompt centimeter-wavelength counterparts to
