This review examines the transition from rigid to flexible soil sensing technologies in the context of soil as a dynamic and heterogeneous environment. By integrating sensor types, sensing modalities, materials, fabrication and deployment strategies, and IoT‐enabled energy and communication approaches, it highlights geotextiles as scalable sensing ...

Polarisation measurements on monomode fibres using optical time-domain reflectometry [PDF]
The feasibility of polarisation optical time-domain reflectometry in single-mode fibres is demonstrated. Polarisation analysis of the backscattered light clearly shows the evolution of the state of polarisation in the fibre.

Evaluation of the WET sensor compared to time domain reflectometry
This paper concentrates on the experimental calibration of a rapid, non-destructive sensor to investigate the salinization process by measuring the dielectric properties of the soil to estimate both the soil water content (theta) and pore water ...

High Fidelity Security Mesh Monitoring using Low-Cost, Embedded Time Domain Reflectometry
Security Meshes are patterns of sensing traces covering an area that are used in Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) and other systems to detect attempts to physically intrude into the device’s protective shell.

Polarisation optical time domain reflectometry
A proposed new optical fibre technique will allow measurement of the spatial distribution of physical fields, and will also allow location of anomalous features in single polarisation state monomode optical fibres such as are under discussion for very high bandwidth communication.

Status and analysis of multi-factor intelligent perception of hidden disaster in mines based on DOFS
Coal is the “ballast stone” for China’s energy security, but hidden disaster-causing factors and the “three highs and one low” problems in deep underground environments pose threats to the safe, efficient and green mining of coal mines.

Broadband Reflectometry: Theoretical Background
In this chapter, the basic approaches of broadband microwave reflectometry are described in detail. More specifically, time domain reflectometry (TDR) and frequency domain reflectometry (FDR) are presented and the involved instrumentation is fully ...
