Time-frequency analysis of tremors [PDF]
Time-frequency analysis methods were applied to surface EMG records of patients with tremor. Variation in tremor frequency over time and between muscles was measured in subjects with Parkinson's disease (n = 20), essential tremor (n = 8) and psychogenic tremor (n = 7).

Time-Frequency Analysis of Systems with Changing Dynamic Properties [PDF]
The Wigner-Ville Distribution, and related refinements, represent a class of advanced time-frequency analysis tools that are distinguished from Fourier and wavelet methods by an increase in resolution in the time frequency plane. Time-frequency analysis

Railway wheel-flat and rail surface defect modelling and analysis by time–frequency techniques [PDF]
Damage to the surface of railway wheels and rails commonly occurs in most railways. If not detected, it can result in rapid deterioration and possible failure of rolling stock and infrastructure components causing higher maintenance costs.

A choice reaction time analysis of spatial frequency discrimination [PDF]
Simple reaction time to the onset of sinewave gratings was measured as a function of spatial frequency in two observers. These results are compared to the choice reaction time required for the observer to correctly discriminate the spatial frequency of ...

A new transform for time-frequency analysis
The psi-decomposition of a signal, in which the signal is written as a weighted sum of certain elementary synthesizing functions, is described. The set S of synthesizing functions consists of dilated and translated copies of two parent functions, which are concentrated in both the time and the frequency domains.

Time–Frequency analysis of localization operators
Let \(T_x f\) and \(M_\omega f\) denote the translation \(T_x f(t)=f(t-x)\) and the modulation \(M_\omega f (t)=e^{2\pi i\omega t} f(t)\) operators, respectively, and let \(V_g (x, \omega)=\int_{\mathbb{R}^d} f(t)\overline{g(t-x)}e^{-2\pi i\omega t}dt\) denote the short-time Fourier transform of \(f\in {\mathcal S}^\prime (\mathbb{R}^d) \) with respect

Data-driven time–frequency analysis
In this paper, we introduce a new adaptive data analysis method to study trend and instantaneous frequency of nonlinear and non-stationary data. This method is inspired by the Empirical Mode Decomposition method (EMD) and the recently developed compressed (compressive) sensing theory.

Adaptive noise cancelling and time–frequency techniques for rail surface defect detection [PDF]
Adaptive noise cancelling (ANC) is a technique which is very effective to remove additive noises from the contaminated signals. It has been widely used in the fields of telecommunication, radar and sonar signal processing.
