Seismic Time History Response Analysis of Maleo Producer
Proceedings of Offshore Technology Conference, 2008Abstract The Maleo Producer is a converted Bethlehem JU 250 (1970's design) mat-supported jack-up that is currently operating as a gas production platform in the Madura Straits, offshore Indonesia. The field is located in a seismically active region. This paper summarizes the procedures used to assess the structural

Structural Time History Response Analysis of Bidirectional Seismic Input
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011In this paper, 6 eccentric structural models are selected as examples, a great many elastic earthquake response analyses are carried out. The biggest action effect which an earthquake brings about when acting in one direction along certain angle is found out, and is defined as a normal value.

Time history response analysis of a slender tower under translational-rocking seismic excitations
Engineering Structures, 2018Abstract Two records from 6-dof ground motion monitoring of induced seismic events are applied to study seismic response of a slender tower under horizontal-rotational excitations. The response of 160 m reinforced concrete, industrial chimney is investigated under moderately intensive, simultaneously acting translational-horizontal and rocking ...

Accuracy of Shock Response in Time History Analysis
Seismic Engineering, Volume 1, 2004A very small time step may be needed in the solution of the shock response from an impulse. In fact, this time step might be much smaller than the time step to have accurate representation of the impulse and negligible period distortion. It will be proved that the discontinuity in external force at the end of an impulse is responsible for this ...

Analytical Exploration of the Time History Analysis of Shock Response
Seismic Engineering, Volume 1, 2002It was experienced that a very small time step may be needed in the solution of the shock response from an impulse. In fact, this time step might be much smaller than the time step to have accurate representation of the impulse and negligible period distortion.

Seismic Response Spectrum in Lieu of Time History Analysis for Subsea Structure Design
Offshore Technology Conference, 2017With oil and gas exploration venturing into more seismic prone regions for global deep water developments, seismic assessment of subsea structures becomes a fundamental part of the design requirements of regulations, industrial codes and standards.

Time–Frequency Analysis (TFA) techniques help to obtain the ideal time and frequency occurrence characteristics of earthquake motion confined in a seismic recorded signal. Time-histories from recording stations in Japan has been adopted in the present analysis, considering a large number of available data.

Earthquake Spectra, 2018
The random vibration theory offers a framework for the conversion of response spectra into power spectral densities (PSDs) and vice versa. The PSD is a mathematically more suitable quantity for structural dynamics analysis and can be straightforwardly used to compute structural response in the frequency domain.

Significant structural collapses happen when a structure is exposed to dynamic loads, such as wind and earthquake loads. The majority of contemporary buildings include architectural meaning, which makes regular form planning extremely challenging. When dynamic loads cause a building to collapse, these anomalies are to blame.
