Obesity and time-inconsistent preferences
Obesity Research & Clinical Practice, 2008As obesity becomes a major health and economic issue of the current age, interventions and policies are being targeted to influence individuals' diet and exercise behaviors. Examining the deviations of reality from a baseline model of rational choice provides insights into the economic rationales for interventions to modify individuals' choices.

Time-Inconsistent Control Theory
2021We now go on to study a class of time-inconsistent control problems. Before proceeding to the formal theory, we first recall a part of our discussion on the Bellman optimality principle from the Introduction. We then detail the game-theoretic formulation, whereby we view the problem as a non-cooperative game with one player at each point in time ...

Time-Inconsistent Regulator Problems
2021In this chapter we study two time-inconsistent versions of the classical linear quadratic regulator. In the first version, time inconsistency enters through a quadratic function of the expected value. In the second version, time inconsistency enters through an explicit dependence of the initial state in the quadratic term.

Modelling time-inconsistent preferences
European Economic Review, 2000Abstract The paper reviews some recent theoretical contributions on the modelization of time-inconsistent preferences, as well as implications for individual behavior. The focus is on the interpretation of the concepts and the link with concepts in psychology.
