Lag-luminosity relation in gamma-ray burst X-ray flares: a direct link to the prompt emission

open access: yes, 2010
The temporal and spectral analysis of 9 bright X-ray flares out of a sample of 113 flares observed by Swift reveals that the flare phenomenology is strictly analogous to the prompt gamma-ray emission: high energy flare profiles rise faster, decay faster ...

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Limited effects of population age on the genetic structure of spatially isolated forest herb populations in temperate Europe

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Due to multiple land‐cover changes, forest herb populations residing in forest patches embedded in agricultural landscapes display different ages and, thus, experience differences in genetic exchange, mutation accumulation and genetic drift.

Institution, Time-lag, Globality [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Communication Inquiry, 1997
It is no secret that academic studies of contemporary culture lag behind the events they analyse. Think about cyberpunk science fiction, which attracted large audiences in the early 1980s, but emerged as an object of critical commentary only later in the decade.

Heat conduction errors and time lag in cryogenic thermometer installations [PDF]

open access: yes
Installation practices are recommended that will increase rate of heat exchange between the thermometric sensing element and the cryogenic fluid, in addition to bringing about a reduction in the rate of undesired heat transfer to higher temperature ...

Extensive X-ray variability studies of NGC 7314 using long XMM-Newton observations

open access: yes, 2016
We present a detailed X-ray variability study of the low mass Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) NGC 7314 using the two newly obtained XMM-Newton observations ($140$ and $130$ ks), together with two archival data sets of shorter duration ($45$ and $84$ ks ...

Clinical Characteristics and Outcomes of Early‐Onset Versus Late‐Onset LGI1‐Antibody Encephalitis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Leucine‐rich glioma‐inactivated 1 antibody (LGI1‐Ab) encephalitis predominantly affected older individuals, but has also been reported in younger patients. However, the demographic, clinical, and prognostic characteristics of early‐onset LGI1‐Ab encephalitis have yet to be systematically elucidated. This study aims to systematically

Accounting for legacy nitrogen stores does not improve the accuracy of riverine nitrate load model predictions

open access: yesEnvironmental Research: Water
Legacy stores of nitrogen (N) have been proposed as an explanation for time lags between implementation of nutrient management practices and discernable declines in riverine N loads, particularly in agricultural watersheds.

Delay effect of Yellow River discharge on the water exchange through the Bohai Strait

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
The exchange of water through the Bohai Strait, located between the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea, plays a crucial role in controlling physical-biogeochemical conditions in the coastal seas off northern and eastern China.
