Water-Covered Roof Versus Inverted Flat Roof on the Mediterranean Coast: A Comparative Study of Thermal and Energy Behavior

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Reservoir, or water-collecting roofs present greater thermal inertia than inverted flat roofs due to the mass of water they contain. This feature gives them better thermal performance and leads to greater stability in the indoor air temperature Ti and ...

Reliable numerical treatment with Adams and BDF methods for plant virus propagation model by vector with impact of time lag and density

open access: yesFrontiers in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, 2022
Plant disease incidence rate and impacts can be influenced by viral interactions amongst plant hosts. However, very few mathematical models aim to understand the viral dynamics within plants.

The flux-dependent X-ray time lags in NGC 4051 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We present an analysis of the X-ray time lags for the highly variable Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC 4051, based on a series of XMM-Newton observations taken in 2009. We investigate the Fourier frequency dependent time lags in the light curves between the 0.3--1.0

EXPRESS ANALYSIS OF THE CONDITION OF THE ECONOMIC COMPLEX OF AN OLD INDUSTRIAL REGION

open access: yesVestnik Volgogradskogo Gosudarstvennogo Universiteta. Seriâ 3, Èkonomika,Èkologiâ, 2018
About 40 % of the Russian regions are classified as old industrial ones, where due to a fragmentary character of the government regional policy in the 1990s, the main investment resources were concentrated in the enterprises of the old city forming ...

Nonparametric Lag Selection for Time Series [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, 2000
A nonparametric version of the Final Prediction Error (FPE) is analysed for lag selection in nonlinear autoregressive time series under very general conditions including heteroskedasticity. We prove consistency and derive probabilities of incorrect selections that have been previously unavailable. Since it is more likely to overfit (have too many lags)

Delay time modulation induced oscillating synchronization and intermittent anticipatory/lag and complete synchronizations in time-delay nonlinear dynamical systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Existence of a new type of oscillating synchronization that oscillates between three different types of synchronizations (anticipatory, complete and lag synchronizations) is identified in unidirectionally coupled nonlinear time-delay systems having two ...

Time-optimal control of time-lag systems with time-lag controls

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1975
AbstractThis paper considers the time-optimal control problem for a class of time-lag systems in which the time-lag is the control variable. It is shown that under certain conditions, the attainable set at any time t is convex, compact, and varies continuously with t. Using this result, a necessary condition for the time-optimal controls in the form of

Adjustment of the Grass Fuel Moisture Code for Grasslands in Southern Brazil

open access: yesFire, 2022
Grasslands are one of the vegetation types most widely affected by wildfires in southern Brazil. It is a fire-dependent ecosystem and it is necessary to know the hourly fuel moisture variation for its management.
