Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

The Physics of Bodily Tides in Terrestrial Planets, and the Appropriate Scales of Dynamical Evolution

open access: yes, 2007
Any model of tides is based on a specific hypothesis of how lagging depends on the tidal-flexure frequency. For example, Gerstenkorn (1955), MacDonald (1964), and Kaula (1964) assumed constancy of the geometric lag angle, while Singer (1968) and Mignard (

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Conjunctural Evolution of the Czech Economy [PDF]

open access: yesStatistika: Statistics and Economy Journal, 2011
Economic evolution in each country can be expressed by means of annual and quarterly time series. An advantage of quarterly data compilation is the ability to provide a more sensitive description of the conjunctural evolution.

Correcting On-the-Go Field Measurement–Coordinate Mismatch by Minimizing Nearest Neighbor Difference

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Many current precision agriculture applications involve on-the-go field measurements of soil and plant properties that require accurate georeferencing.

Parameter mismatches, variable delay times and synchronization in time-delayed systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We investigate synchronization between two unidirectionally linearly coupled chaotic non-identical time-delayed systems and show that parameter mismatches are of crucial importance to achieve synchronization. We establish that independent of the relation

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The Macroeconomy as a Network of Money-Flow Transfer Functions [PDF]

open access: yesModeling, Identification and Control, 1998
An introduction on A.W. Phillips’ "hydraulic" macroeconomic models is given. His (and others economists’) notion that a macroeconomy may reasonably be considered to have dynamics corresponding to a first order time lag transfer function, is justified in ...

Thermal Performance of Structural Lightweight Concrete Composites for Potential Energy Saving

open access: yesCrystals, 2021
Residential consumption dominates the energy expenditure of heating and cooling systems, especially in tropical climates where building envelopes play an important role in energy efficiency.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
