Indoor terminal localization technology using a single access point based on distributed MIMO networks

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2023
Regarding the terminal localization in distributed MIMO networks, an indoor terminal localization system using a single access point (AP) based on distributed MIMO networks was proposed.Firstly, the AP’s antennas were arranged at different locations in ...

Spectroscopic Techniques versus Pitot Tube for the Measurement of Flow Velocity in Narrow Ducts

open access: yesSensors, 2020
In order to assess the limits and applicability of Pitot tubes for the measurement of flow velocity in narrow ducts, e.g., biomass burning plants, an optical, dual function device was implemented. This sensor, based on spectroscopic techniques, targets a

Parents of Youth With Cancer Report on Their Psychosocial Care: iSTEPPP Survey Finds Alignment and Gaps With Standards

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The Standards for Psychosocial Care for Children with Cancer and Their Families guide the provision of comprehensive psychosocial care. Parallel to research characterizing implementation of the Standards from the perspective of providers, this study examines implementation of the Standards from the perspective of parents of youth ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Nutrient/TOR signaling controls adipose mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) to regulate organismal growth in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Animals must match their growth rate to available nutrients. We show that in Drosophila larvae, the nutrient‐sensing TOR kinase controls growth by regulating levels of TFAM, a key regulator of mitochondrial function, in the adipose tissue. When nutrients are abundant, high TOR activity suppresses TFAM, lowering mitochondrial bioenergetic activity and ...

Nanocrystalline Lead Halide Perovskites to Boost Time‐of‐Flight Performance of Medical Imaging Detectors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces
Time‐of‐flight (TOF) technique, traditionally used in high energy physics (HEP) and positron emission tomography (PET), is now being explored for lower energy applications like computed tomography (CT).

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Importin 7 mediates the nuclear import of HIV‐1 integrase via a specific interacting interface

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HIV‐1 integrase enables viral DNA integration into the host genome. By binding to the core domain of the host protein Importin 7 via its C‐terminal domain, the integrase is transported across the nuclear membrane into the nucleus, where integration of the viral genome into host DNA takes place. This translocation is a critical step for subsequent viral

Active Body Pressure Relief System with Time-of-Flight Optical Pressure Sensors for Pressure Ulcer Prevention

open access: yesSensors, 2019
A body pressure relief system was newly developed with optical pressure sensors for pressure ulcer prevention. Unlike a conventional alternating pressure air mattress (APAM), this system automatically regulates air flow into a body supporting mattress ...
